AA's A little help please

Okay I am slowly nearing LVL 51. (agonizingly slowly). I know vitrually nothing about the AA's. Could someone direct me towards some info on thse so I can begin to prepare? Or if you have the time give me an idea what they are all about. Thanks.

By looking at the Alternate Advancement ability you can guess what each of the abilites will do.

What it doesn't say is that the Alternate Advancement experience (AAexp from now on) is that of a lvl 51 character. So if at lvl 60 you kill a lvl 55 mob while having 100% of your exp pool redirected to AA's, you'll get the exp a lvl 51 would have gotten by killing it.

To make it simple, at lvl 51 it'll cost you the same to get 1 AApoint and 1 full level. At lvl 60 it will be a lot easier to get 1 AApoint than one lvl (maybe not a lot, but definitely easier).

Also, at every level beyond 60 (61-65), you'll get a cumulative 5% bonus exp to AAexp (if they didn't change it).

There's also the bonus that was put in before the break. I believe the first 50 AA come in fast now. The first AA is twice as fast, and this bonus scales down until, after 50 AA points, the AAs come in at the normal rate.

For example, when I hit level 51 I put half my experience to AA. By the time I hit 52 I had 1.71 AAs.

You also get a 10% aaxp bonus at 63, 20% and 64, and 30% at 65, as I understand it.

AAs provide a lot of really nice abilities, but unless you're trying to stay below a certain level for some reason (such as adepts), you'll probably find it a lot more efficient to just level, then do AAs once you hit 65. For my part, I got run3 (increases your innate run speed, slower than SoW, but a lot faster than normal run) on both characters at 60, then went back to normal XP.

At level 51 I have 10 AA, my reasons are mine to keep WHY I went for AA instead of normal leveling, so don't go saying "Are you stupid or something". I've heard it already and it gets sickening. Don't listen to what other people have to say about you gaining exp. You get what you want at your own pace.

The two main reasons I chose to stay 51 is because I don't want to advance farther than my friends, who are below 51. So I was gaining AA in the mean time.
The next reason I chose to AA is because at 51, LBs are SO easy to kill solo and wield virtually the same exp as a DB would in a group. I lose less than 150HP per fight, and by the time I have to heal, I'll have about 10-20% AA exp depending on how the fight went.. misses.. etc.

Exp doesn't work in fixed numbers. How it works is that if you as level 60 kill a blue mob, you gain the same experience you would if you at level 51 killed a blue mob. This means that you do no gain the same exp you would have, if you at level 51, had killed a level 55 mob, but you would gain same experience as if you had killed a level ~ 47 mob (at level 51).

There seem to be a lot of different ideas about how AA exp works, could a GM/Wiz confirm exactly how it works? I remember the whole first 50AAs bonus, etc. part, which was done pretty recently, but how about the whole 'at 60 you get 5% bonus to AA exp, 63 it's 10%, 65 it's 20%' etc stuff?

PS. Homogenn - huh?

Hasrett is right on the bonuses - confirmed with a screenshot of some of Wiz's chat one night in OOC.

If you at level 51 kill a mob a few levels under you, you would gain some experience.
If you at level 60 kill a mob a few levels under you, you would gain less experience.
If you have AA exp turned on, you would instead of gaining the "lesser experience" gain the experience as if it had been the first scenario.

AA Exp bonuses comes at 63, 64 and 65. 10% exp bonus for each step, i.e. 10% at 63, 20% at 64 and 30% at 65.

The first 50 AAs have an additional increased speed. After 100 AAs it starts to slow down until you hit AA 200 where the penalty is at its highest.

Note: This is at least how it used to be, however things have been known to change.
