65 and tier 1 question ...

Hi there,

We are a 6-man group 65 and some AA(Pal/Wiz - Enc/Mag - Bard/Cleric).
We're just now coming back to shards after a 6 month break.

If I remember correctly when we quit early we we're working on our mq in the dungeon after Heartland Plateau . So my question is :

Is the tier1 one of 6-man group is doable at 65 or it is recommended you have a certain amount of AA ? And if it is not doable what is the normal progression people go through to equip/grind themselves to the first tier? Map ? certain dungeon ?

I kinda searched the wiki for answer but couldn't to find any precise infos...

Thanks

you should be able to finish the MQ np with a tier 1 grp. the spider boss in the undercaverns may give you guys some trouble untill you figure out its strategy but definatley doable. far as getting gear and such i would reccomend farming E then M then D maps and also checking out Cmal 1.0 and 2.0 and if you're feeling ballsy 3.0. There is also now a TON of buyable ikisith gear which is about tier 2-4. but sometimes it can be a bit pricey.

cmal is an excellent zone now post-revamp, farm 1/2 for awhile and then being able to do cmal3 should be a nice short term goal to set for yourselves. it's really solid exp and loot.

also tmaps are probably your best bet for items per time investment. you also make most of the money back from the map purchase.

i wouldn't really recommend buying boe's except for maybe the cheaper vendor price stuff, like stuff from blood quarry.

i recommend getting info to a ringer tank/cleric (there's a million of them) and then farming farhags for loot. After you've geared yourself up some make a guild that revolves around said ringers and continue to kill content until you're geared enough that you get bored and quit.

maps and cmal are a good start. Catacombs is decent once you get better gear. Also bounties are great and you are allowed to raid r3 bounties so even the tougher ones are doable. Also murk quests have some pretty good rewards.

MQ wont be a problem for you, with 6 toons.

Check out this for what you can try and aim for with 6 man: http://wiki.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php/6-man_Tiers

First Ruins and Kaesora drops some decent stuff you can do with a tier 1 group, Citadel is not terrible, but probably you wanna try and get to around tier 4 ish before going there.

Oh and yeah t-maps are amazing (risk vs reward), but you will need to bash them open with your groups set up (or have bard pick, not sure how well they do that).

We tried Cmal back then he got our ass wiped, so I guess we gonna try finish our mq and do map until we ave the right gear.

Everyone else has been pretty spot on with information, but Thanman telling you to go to Citadel, Kaesora, First Ruins and the like is ridiculous as fresh 65's with no AA's and no gear.

Farm maps as hard as possible. Go to Mielech C and kill the bard wing (when you zone in and come out of the entrance building, go to the right). It is very easy and provides decent cash loot and items you can sell to buy better stuff, as well as pretty good experience. As you sell that stuff off and buy better gear, begin including the disco wing (coming out from entrance, go to the left - if you see golems you are going the right way) as you get more AA's and more gear. The "a froglok cabalist" drops a Melwin's Idol - which is amazing and adds a lifetap proc. Any class in your group that melees should get one, as it adds free dps that you can't get from any other source, and you'll be using it pretty much through all the tiers in most situations.

As you're killing in Mielech C, keep an eye out for no stat armor drops. Pick a side (giants or dragons, I recommend killing dragons and allying with Giants because dragons DESERVE to be killed), and you can use these no stat armor drops to turn into Stormforged or Draconic gear pieces. Look for people doing pickup raids in Storm's Eyes if you choose to ally Dragons, or Dragonhorn Keep if you choose to go with giants. You can get no drop gems from these zones that will turn your regular quested armor into Ornate armor, which was upgraded in recent times and is very good now. From there you'll find a lot of options opening up for your group.

If you have anymore questions or need any help, shoot me a tell in game. I'm usually on Diafann!
