40ish hunting suggestions

Hello everybody,

Well, I'm a little bored now... At 39, I can't seem to find an interesting place to hunt in. Most places I've tried are either very far from transport (meaning it's hard to get a group going unless there's a Druid/Wizard to port everybody, and even then...), or have me worried about trashing factions I haven't picked yet (Heartlands, about all the zones with Giants/Dragons in them).

What would be your suggestion? The ideal would be a zone where soloing as a Ranger is possible, with some stuff in it or in the next zone over being a good grouping experience for a high 30s/low 40s group (kinda like what South Badlands/Paw is to a mid-20s soloer/group).

Nothing in heartlands that you would be killing would affect your faction with the, well, factions that are there. It's an outdoor zone with tons of mobs. The spiders are pretty decent exp at 39, iirc, and there are plenty of them. It's kind of boring, though.

yeah its kind of like hunting outside newport too, trouble? kite it to the guards, wash rinse repeat.

Isn't highpass around that level still too? Don't quite recall, oh and paw deep was still xpish around then.

Highpass isn't too hot at that level. Basically early 40s to low 50s was when I hated playing Robb a lot, so I can still kind of remember what I tried to do, and I think I just grinded through heartlands. It sucked.

Oh wait I remember, around mid40's we were in mielb alot, like 7ish hours in frenzy when that one guy was being a dick with aleax pulling.

Hahah, yeah. that was high 40s for Robb, but I do remember that. Summary: mielb rules.

Whatever happened to aleax anyways, last I talked to him was like 7 months ago :(

Thanks for the suggestions! I knew Heartlands was in the center of some (relatively) important faction stuff so I figured I ought not to hunt there before picking a side, but I'm glad to know I can give it a try without risks. :) As for MielB, I'll keep my eyes open for grouping opportunities. I did try to start a group there, but let's just say it wasn't wildly successful. *crossing my fingers for more chances*

You want a badass group for it preferably. Sk's work very well there properly geared (splitting + tankage omg). Add a good healer, some buffs and some dps and stay there damm near forever.

I blew through the 40s doing the MQ. Got 2-3 levels alone just soloing those spiders for all the damn drops I needed.

40-45 was pretty fast in Yaralith sewers but I think noone goes there anymore.
Another suggestion would be upper lasanth with a nice group. Mobs aren't that hard at all and you won't ever run out of them.

Another option to solo might be Obsidian Shard Mountains. The Gargoyle Fort has a ton of single/easy splittable mobs and all the HG's roam there that should yield XP for you in your 40ies.

Not to mention good money ;)

That's not the worst side effect. And if I remember it right those Gargs drop a piece for the ranger Starfall - not 100% sure on this.

Are you sure about that? I was in Yaralith in my mid-thirties and saw barely a few white/blue cons on track.

Gonna have to check on Lasanth though, I don't even know where that is. :p

About OSM, yeah, I have the starfall piece already.

Keep em coming!

Not sure if yaralith was ninja/sneak revamped but if not you could even get XP from those things in the sewers in your 50ies.
Zone into yaralith, run into the yard and the ladder ahead, dive into the right pond and follow the way (only one). This should get you into this area.
This is no solo spot though.

Forgotten spawns are what they're called. And they're undercons. Big time. You'll need a group for sure.

Geonids in Faerenthrac are also good exp from mid 30's to around 45. After 40 or so these can be easily soloed because there are plenty that are one pullable. As a Ranger, though, these may require a group due to not being able to kite well in the caves. My BL, however, got to negative exp bonus off Geonids back when she was like 39 to 44. Decent cash and easily soloable by a BL.

Its also fairly easy to pull the geos out of the caves and kite them in the forest. They're pretty good cash too.

If I recall correctly, I made 40-45 in sbl off of corrupted aviaks, centaurs, and elephants. It was pretty slow but I was farming my starfall quest peice (and the newport ring III quest peice too) so it was a necessary evil.

We cleansed the badlands off the corruption...

Lake Starfall Goblins might be a viable solution after 45 but you'll ruin a faction if you kill them :/

Faentharc geonids can be sweet XP if you keep at them after they are soloable. Another spot you may consider, if you are high 40's, is DFS first floor. Some areas with single pullable, some with 2-3. Gnoll skin armor falls randomly too.

40's are kind of a rough time. Content good before, content good after, but during it gets a bit dry.
