2.5 Loot Claiming - Policy as of 10/5

Folks,

We're far enough along I think we can start doing some MINIMAL loot transfers on 2.5. What this means is, under CONTROLLED CIRCUMSTANCES, I will be willing to transfer 2.5 loot to your permanent (2.0) character.

There are conditions, however, and they are non-negotiable, so please don't ask.

1) A staff member must be present for the entirety of the fight. In the event of a clear, we'd like to at least see part of that as well to make sure nothing wonky is going on. We MUST witness any boss fight to make it loot-eligible. You are welcome to work on encounters without us, you just cannot keep loot from it.

Alternatively, if you clear it with staff, you may record the entire raid so we can review it. Please let us know if you intend to do this first though so we make sure it's alright. The reason for this is several staff members are in active guilds and can act as observers, but we don't want to disadvantage those guilds who don't have such people in their ranks. That's why we're thinking the recording makes sense. If anyone has a concern with this, let me know! I don't want people getting the impression that any staff is getting a leg-up here; that is NOT the intent.

2) We have very limited time, and so preference will be given in this order:
a. Organized, formal guilds who set up a time in advance with us. Full 18-man, preference given to less-boxed encounters
b. 12 man, then 6 man encounters
c. One-off encounters (need to clear it with staff before we agree to award loot)
d. Ad-hoc things set up when we just happen to be around

If we are tied up watching someone else, you will have to wait, unless you already booked something in advance. First come, first served. To request a slot, you can petition in 2.0 or catch me in IRC (#25Testing channel is preferred).

Also, I am not interested in watching a person 6 box an encounter. Find some friends. This is not a loot farm, it's a testing environment.

3) Absolutely no quest pieces will be awarded. Part of the difficulty of many quests is finding the mobs up and available. We don't want to circumvent that in 2.5. So forget the elabs, vah stuff, etc., sorry guys. I will also not be allowing 4.3 (yet) - you are welcome to do it, but don't plan on keeping the loot.

4) Staff has final say over whether loot will be awarded. Sad to say there will still be bugs, and if we think an encounter didn't work right, we reserve the right to punt on loot. If we're concerned people are farming, we may also cap it. Decisions are final.

5) There will be bugs as mentioned above. If you can't handle that, this is not a good option for you. Expect zones to have to go down, hot patches applied, etc., which may make things slow.

6) While I may be willing to repop certain encounters, I am not interested in helping a guild or person farm stuff using 2.5. No you can't have Saitha 3 times that week. If an encounter is down and you have a compelling reason to want to test it, let me know and I will figure out if we can do it.

7) Last but certainly not least. With the exception of the boxing rule, ALL REGULAR SOD RULES APPLY! If you exploit something in order to get loot, expect to be punished. If you exploit it accidentally and report it, that's fine, but you won't keep the loot. If you're abusive, same deal. Rules for claim and such also apply at this point - don't be jerks.

8) OK, one more thing. I will dish out fame for those people who participate. Sometimes nothing gets done (like last night), but people still put in effort helping to test. I will try to make sure everyone gets fame for good attempts like that!

This is a great opportunity for folks to maybe work on some things that they can't always get access to - it's an advantage of helping us debug the last few weeks here. Hopefully this doesn't all blow up in my face. :)

Keep any comments in this thread relevant to the loot transfer policy, please.

Updated 10/6 to cover staff observing and using recordings. Also added fame rewards.
