1017 Error, Help!

So I installed Titanium from the CDs, and followed the thread on how to get SoD running from scratch, and now every time I try to log in, I get:

Error 1017: Cannot login to ********* server.
You may need to re-run the update patch. Repeatedly seeing this message indicates a loss of connectivity to the Patch server. This is usually temporary.

I've re-patched several times, so I'm assuming that isn't the problem. One thing i noticed, however, is that when I downloaded the SoD patcher from the file's list, it was not a zip file, but instead just sodpatcher.exe. I'm thinking this might be the problem, as I don't have the sodbin.exe it says it should come with. Any help appreciated, thanks

The patcher has been updated, the new one comes as a single file. This error is just a generic time-out. Patching will probably not help. It is usually a problem for those with high latency connections like satellite or an ISP in a rural area.

would appreciate any help

Check your eqhost file and make sure you have the right port and ip address.
Unless mine is wrong, it should be:

[Registration Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91:5997"
}

A few people have been complaining about this.

Although it's generally on the client end, it also occurs when the login server is really busy.

I don't know what kind of connection you have but if you are pretty sure your connection is solid (not laggy, not low-bandwidth, not sharing a pipe with a lot of heavy users, etc), then you could try seeing if connecting at different times has different results.
