1001 cant connect to login server

i followed the steps listed above in the stickie post, and still get the 1001 error 'cant connect to login server' when i attempt to log in.

i am running XP pro sp2, just setup a clean install today following the tutorial posted by lynnettell. i have also checked basic things like firewall to make sure its not blocked, etc. I am launching from the patcher directly inside the game folder, and have edited my eqhost file for the new server info.

i have tried repatching all, disabling my firewall, rebooting, checked the ports in my router, and even deleted and repatched the eqhosts and files.txt files.

any suggestions other than complete reinstall? =\

Do you have more than one internet connection listed in network properties? If so, disable the second... even if sitting there unplugged, may have issues.

1001 means you're not getting to login server. So *something* is blocking it. Make sure even stupid Windoze firewall is off.

im using my laptop with wireless, and i always keep my lan connection disabled. i did also make sure my m$ firewall is off. perhaps i missed something in the router...
