Zones rich in ore, but no ore?

Okay, after a discussion with someone else that is 235 w/+ adds that they couldn't find ore in some spots, I decided to check it out. Sso out of sheer boredom today, I went to a couple zones on Kerolynne (250 miner, +5 pick, +3 satchel) to see what ore is actually mined there (listed as unknown on Wiki).

Lake Starfall. Prospector's Satchel reports extremely rich in ore. I went all over the zone, all the islands, etc. 660 rocks before I gave up, and no ore whatsoever. In this same amount of time, I was dual box mining with my rogue in FR, and mined almost a stack of deepmetal, and last check, even DM is 2% chance, so I should have gotten at least a dozen or so ore somewhere in this <insert diety> forsaken zone. But not even an iron.

Second zone - Red Sun Peaks. Prospector's Satchel reports extremely rich in ore. 520 rocks, an AA point from killing random aggro in the zone, and not a single ore. Of any type. Again, still getting DM on rogue in FR.

I honestly don't think this is the RNG being mean, not with 500+ rocks. I've been mining for over a year & didn't even have that bad of luck with 0 skill on iron. Heck, I did better than that in Miel with the sparse dalium there.

I do know mining is Wiz' baby, so hopefully this can be looked into.

Anyways, yeah I don't get the feeling the RNG is being mean... unless it was a special conditional statement made just for you :) Then the devs would just be mean :psyduck:
 
Well, I was the second person this week to try those zones. The reason I went is because the other one who was exploring to see what is mined isn't 250, but is 200+, so we thought it might be ghost, warp or DM in those zones. He also got 2-300 rocks in each zone before giving up.

So either the devs have us both flagged as "no ore for you!", then methinks something is broken. :p
 
Checked Red Sun Peaks again today, 255 mining with +5 pick, 0 ore and 220 rocks.

Edit: Changed 255 smithing to 255 mining which is what I meant =)
