WR not as fun anymore?

I don't know if it is just me, but WR doesn't seem to be as fun anymore, or thrilling any longer. I took a break, about a month or two, to see if I would get the urge to play once again, like I always have in the past. Well I logged on finally to my mage and ranger who are both 35, and tried killing some hill giants (even and yellow cons).

I tried doing what I used to before the specialization system was put, bow kite the hill giants. I can easily snare them, but once I start attacking with my bow, I miss A LOT. I have 250 points into the Sight/Warding which increases archery attacks and such. Well ever since then, I miss way too much to even enjoy playing anymore. I use a crystalline bow (30/40 dmg/dly) and I do some decent dmg, around 200dmg non-crit if I'm even lucky enough to hit. But anyways, it doesn't even seem worth it to even do this anymore because I'm missing.

On another note, I may be the only one, and I may not be, but I don't really like the boating system. The boat always seems to be down and when you need to get to Odus/Newport, it's not possible because the druids or wizards won't port you. It makes it almost impossible to level because Odus is a very nice 10-35 leveling area compared to every other place.

I also don't really like the increase in the population because even with more people, I still don't see the many groups that are needed (soloing/duoing is boring but I can't find any groups to exp with because people are stingy and hate grouping for the same, if not better exp). Just a suggestion but maybe there should be a note in the MOTD that exp with a 6 person group is EXACTLY the same as duoing... It would make people realize that grouping is far better because of the faster killing.

I don't know, I'm probably going to just quit for now, be back later when I get a sudden urge to play again, or get some friends to play with me. That's another reason why it's boring, all my friends don't even play anymore. Well I'll still hang around the forums a bit, but won't be on the game anymore unless I just feel like messing around. See ya for now guys.

I picked out the 3 things I agree with.

Laters, take care.

Chin up! Threads like this one were the single biggest thing I hated about EQLive forums. Consider: There is absolutely nothing a thread like this can do, because either people disagree with you and are still here, or agree with you and have left.

There's a bright side: the problems you talk about fix each other. More people means porters means less waiting for boats, and more people means more groups. Personally, if I go into /ooc or check the zone and offer to donate, I can get a port in less than the time it takes me to hoof it to the boat zone. I've only ever had to use the boat one way to Odus and I still had a blast leveling in Warrens. I can get a group easily if I go to group hotspots--if there is no group there, I just form one; / all lfg, / all guild, or just / all (Mylevel -5) (Mylevel +5) and look for people in boring zones.

No comment on the missing with a bow thing since I'm a caster and wouldn't know what I was talking about :) .

Boats were just fixed.

And uh, hill giants are yellow-red to you. No shit you're going to miss them quite a bit?

This post is very silly.

But seriously, if "I miss sometimes", "There are boats" and "There are other people" make you quit, I doubt any MMORPG will ever hold your attention.

I know what you are talking about when you said you cant find a group. I just started to play on this server and at level 17, its a pain to find a group. Just, the best thing i can suggest is to try to group as much as you can and then remember those people so you can keep grouping when ever their on, also look for new people to group with as much as you can. also a guild might be what you need, so you can group with people from the clan. well, just some suggestions.

If a group isn't start - then start one - its not hard. I have seen several pick up groups started in OOC - it just takes a little bit of effort if that is what you desire. Saminella was also on spot in suggesting a guild as a guild is generally people seeking additional social interaction in game.

Personally, I love the fact that WR doesn't require a group to survive because I personally enjoy playing on my own.

As for other complaints - yeah, I have never had a problem with the boats. I know they have been broken but I have never had complaints about them and I used them quite a bit.

As for hitting yellow cons - be happy you can snare them - as an enchanter I had a hard time landing spells on yellow cons after hitting them with Tash - needless to say, I adjusted and stuck to white and lower cons.

Wiz is allowed to say it but I'm not. :(

Im glad you understand - hehe, sorry, had to.

The problem is, that before I was able to hit them a lot, and not miss on them. But since the implementation of the specialization system, I seem to be missing a lot more than usual. I also don't crit nearly as much either (might just be a coincidence, but maybe it could be something looked into because I thought archery was being worked on a bit)

Before I played on WR, I played EQ for nearly 6 years(had to stop because I couldn't afford anymore), WoW for a few months (too easy so I stopped playing), SWG for like a month (too buggy at the start to even bother playing). I chose to play on WR because I thought I was still interested in playing old world EQ.

I'd probably still play if my friends did, or if there were more of an abundance of groups still.

The hit formulas for players have not changed in months. The spec doesn't even touch them, it only affects damage.

WHAT? Did HE design the game? Does HE pay for it?

Oh right.

I kinda agree on the arrow part. Even with tal yan guards in Yaralith (which con blue and light blue to me), I can miss almost up to 6 times in a row before being able to hit them again. This isn't just once in a while, this would happen with almost every other guard I fight... and it's quite annoying to have to carry 120 arrows and spend a stack on each guard.

exp with a 6 person group is EXACTLY the same as duoing

i don't understand
do u mean that for a 60xp mob, when i get 30xp/character duoing i will also get 30xp/char on a fullgrp instead of the 10xp/char?? :brow:

Um, here is my example. If you duo, you get the same xp as you would a full group.

EX:

Two people kill a mob and get 100XP each.

Six people kill the same mob, and get 100XP each.

Makes sense? =o

Also, % of misses seriously doesn't matter, DPS does.

I agree with Wiz here. And like he said earlier, the Giants would be Even/Yellow/Red to you so what do you expect?

Even at level 65 with Max archery skill and +24% archery mod items i still miss a considerable about on Dark Blue mobs. Thats just how it works. Do you think in real life you could run backwards and shoot arrows at a crazy monster chasing you and hit every time?

DPS is what counts, who cares if you miss it 6 times when you can then hit it for 350+ dmg (that costs no mana) without it even touching you...
