Wizard Relic Familiar

As far as I know, this familiar is supposed to mimic nukes 20% of the time, give mana regen (maybe 2 per tic?) and cast it's little heal thing. Now maybe I'm wrong and please correct me if I am but from parsing for the past 6 months on all sorts of fights, 6 mans/raid targets/groups it seems to be broken. If indeed it is supposed to be 20% or even if it was 10% mimic nukes at the time I'm seeing in only ever do 1 or 2 nukes in fights where I cast more than 50 nukes.

My suggestion is that this be looked into, maybe it's working as intended and I'm missing something here? But I've talked to other wizards and they complain about the same issue. It seriously does less dps then our swarm pets. Maybe fix the nuke mimic and maybe even add 2-4 extra spell crit and lower it's hp if you want and make it a valuable asset to a wizard kind of how the ranger bird increases their accuracy among other things.

Also I feel this would balance things out as Wizards were impacted the most from the channelling nerf/4.3 weapon being unusable in it's current intended form for wizards/mages/every class on it except enchanters(in the 2 handed version). I mean you might as well just make the 2h version enchanter only or fix it and give them their own weapon it's so terrible. /rant over
 
Can't give any input on the familiar bit, but I for one would've loved for the fabled ENC-only 4.3 weapon to have been implemented alongside the clunky old sword!
 
yeah wizard familiar always seemed kind of gimmicky when mimicing nukes and i think the heal thing has something to do with it
 
Is it possible that the familiar cannot mimic nukes if it is already in the middle of casting its Light Healing spam? If so, this is unfortunate design. Tevinter may be onto something.
 
Yeah litteraly Call of Xuzl does more damage in the 30 seconds those 4 swords stay up for in a 5+ minute fight OR ANY fight for that matter when compared to the seemingly maximum 2 nukes a familiar will mimic. I'm talking about long fights here, fights where I go OOM, and you're gonna tell me that a whole mana bar of a t13 wizard only consistutes 1 or 2 nukes from a familiar over the course of 5, 6, 7 minute fights? Pretty fucked up coding or needs a serious overhaul.
 
Not sure how easily that could be done to have the pet behave differently out of combat. The easiest way to test this would be to just make the pet stop healing and see if it healing is why it isn't mimicking.
 
Not in the position of looking into the codebase, but I have an idea for how you could kinda verify your theory yourself: run around some with the non-relic familiar, the one that just mimics nukes and doesn't heal at all. Parse that a LOT, see if you get more spell mimics.
