Wizard, Newport Cup III

I realize there are several posts already but none of them address the problem I am having. I was able to get Sven down to a point where he runs away and I receive the item in my inventory. However, when returning to Hayden he will not accept the item - he returns it to me and prompts me to start the quest all over again.

Not sure how exactly to proceed with this, so hoping for some insight or assistance. I would love to finish the quest line please! I haven't given up yet.

I did the quest few days ago. it works.
the item you get from sven you must give the illu in the room before hayden.
he gives you an new item and this is the item hayden wants.
