Currently, the 16, 29, and the 2 level 49 aswell as the level 60 pets have a set duration of 1200 ticks (2 hours), the Relic pet at 65 has a duration of 3600 ticks (6 hours)

What I propose:
Raise duration to something ludicrously high so that they resemble other pet classes "permanent" pets.

I don't mean change any of the statistics of any pet, only asking for a longer duration.

On a side note, would it be possible to make them able to take orders? specifically /pet guard.
the flapping little *******s can be a little annoying if you happened to be facing southeast when fighting, as pets are always to the Southeast of the player it can be a little irritating.

Well... there's also the school of thought that familiars aren't pets, especially since wizards do get pets.

Either way, I couldn't agree more that the "southeast issue" is annoying. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, as it wasn't a quick and easy thing to find with the Search function: http://forum.shardsofdalaya.com/showthread.php?p=137654#post137654

In short: the southeast thing is "good suggestion, low priority".
 
So because wizard familiars are considered a buff and not a pet we can't have a longer duration?

I thought one of the things your supposed to do is make a new thread instead of resurrect an old one?

I understand about the pet following to the southeast.. that it's more work than it's worth.
But what about pet commands? like /pet guard so we can try to keep him out of the way manually, or is that impossible because as Ikaa said they are considered buffs and not pets?
 
What i am saying is, you cant ask for a permanent duration on familiars simply because pets dont wear off, because of the fact that they arent the same type of spell.

Well, you can, but, quite frankly: no.

All buffs wear off; there is no such thing as an endless buff, and hasnt been since perma's were taken out of game. If you want a lore reason for it, summoning a minion from another plane of existence is taxing on the summoner, and you can only keep your hold on it for certain periods of time, requiring it be dismissed at regular intervals.
 
Honestly, if you are summoning and controlling this minion, how hard would it be to tell it to move the heck out of the way? Is it even possible to add in a /pet guard command for the familiar types? The SE thing is incredibly annoying.

this would be very nice.. but I'm also wondering if its possible as familiars arnt seen as "normal" pets.

Your lore makes sense.. how about just a little longer duration? say, 3 or 4 hours? Relic is fine at 6 hours as by the time you are powerful enough to get relics your probably powerful enough to hold a familiar a few more hours :p but I would still like a somewhat longer duration on the others.

Nono, its the Flappy Labor Union. They have guaranteed work times, you know...
