Windows pop up crashes EQ when I zone

gloworm

Dalayan Beginner
OK for the past week or so every time I zone I get this window that pops up saying something like " Windows has detected that your everquest client may have crashed" blah blah blah. This happens during the loading screen when I zone. I have to then restart EQ completely which on my computer takes around 5 mins. I have two seperate directories for everquest as I dual client my other account off of it. When it first started happening to one of my accounts I got fed up and ran my druids account of my mages, it didn't happen at first to that account but after awhile it wormed its way into that as well. It's so frustrating I'm not even considering playing till it's fixed. I can't stand the amount of time I waste given that normally I have to travel 3-5 zones to get a group (which is around 20 mins wasted time) then whats been my luck rescently, my group disbands and I am off to find another. I'm going bald from tearing my hair out so just bring it too your attention, and also giving an explaination on why I haven't been on so much. Is there anything at all I can do? I tried patching to live then using eqfix and it didn't help...please, please, please help :(

I get this same problem dual-clienting from the same copy of game. Granted, it doesn't happen often at all, but I've seen it a few times. No idea on a fix though.

One odd thing I've noticed is it never happens when i zone into certain zones like Faentharc Woods. I can zone there no problem, so maybe it has some connection to map files or something?

Though i don't DC, I have seen the pop-up message you are talking about, but only occasionaly after i have logged on to WR and have pressed "enter world" at the char selection screen. WR crashes back to desktop, and the message appears. As i have said, i've only seen the message under these circumstances, though i have crashed when zoning, and (more frequently) after dying (although with those two instances WR crashes back to server selection, not desktop, and there is no popup message). I am sry that I cannot provide any information that might help you, i post this so that it may be known yours' is not an isolated experience. I am sure there are others yet to come forth who share the same problem. :(

Well I've also noticed I do not get this when I get resurrected, when i die and zone back to my bind point I do, but not when I get ressed back to group. However I also have another issue that has popped up in the past few days. Whenever I bring up my druid pet as soon as I try to buff it or we engage in battle I go back to server select screen, no error message, no LD tick down of my connection, just black screen then back to server select screen. Then when I log back on even if I sometimes do not spawn a pet as soon as battle is engaged same thing happens. Please someone help, I'm a fairly patient person but all these problem make me not even want to play. I spend more time restarting EQ then I do playing on top of irratating my group I find or end up rezoning into mobs since group left.

Anyone have a clue at least on this window pop up bug? I'm really about to give up. I've been unable to play for 2 weeks and even after this new patch the issue hasn't been resolved. I've tried re-instaling EQ completely several times and deleting everything in my folder and it keeps happening after I zone a few times it comes right back. Please help :(

Only thing I can think of is to post a dxdiag and see if there maybe is something going on with your hardware.

start run, dxdiag, save information and then paste it here...

not sure if that will help at all but at least it's a shot.

OK not sure what I should've included as it was a huge document so I included some stuff at top:

Hope this helps me in some way, really wanting to play :(

NM, think I fixed it today. I used ad aware and spybot to get rid of some crap on my computer..then I turned off some stuff in task manager and deleted a bunch of stuff that I didn't know they did. Now it seems to work fine, so maybe it was stuff running in the background like spy programs that was causing the crashes, hopefully I retain this luck with it :)
