I enjoyed EQ in the early years. The game was fresh and exciting. But then the expansions after Kunark started flooding in. The game began to become a grind, and the fun was starting to wane. But I persevered regardless of all the d00d's and l33t's that starting dotting the landscape.
It wasn't too much later when logging in felt like having to go to work. I started dreading it more and more when my friends (who were extremely hooked on the game) wanted to play. But since I enjoyed their company, I played with them. It made the game at least somewhat tolerable.
Later still, the game began to scrape the bottom of boring. Killing things was, well, boring. Quests were run of the mill, nothing new to see, except for the expansions. But then seeing one new mob started melding into the same old mob of yore.
Playing EQL use to be an everday thing. But then it started to lapse. I would game maybe 6 times a week, then down to 4, then maybe 2 days out of a week. It didn't take long before I was playing once every 2 weeks. At one point I played only once during one month (that was a waste of a subscription).
Then finally I left EQL last year, after 5½ continuous years of playing. Then I was introduced to WR shortly before my leave from EQL.
I decided to give it a try and see what it had to offer. I was amazed. The content was fresh, mobs had a new feel to them, quests were indepth and personable. Then, which followed next, was the people who played. Both a joy to speak to in OOC and extremely helpful.
Suddenly I felt the spark that was smoldering so many years before, re-ignited with a fury of new prospects. And all those things combined is the reason why I love playing WR!
Oh, and its an additional bonus that its free... Especially for those of us who are on a limited budget! Thanks for all work you guys do! Kudos to all of you!
