Why do you play on WR?

Well this isn't why I'm hooked but I play because it's free.

The reason I'm hooked is because I haven't played in like 2 years, and finally getting back into EQ got me hooked again. WR is by far better than EQlive will ever be. The quests are awesome, the idea of NOT having to go to your body to get your items, NO BAZAAR OR NEXUS!, things like exp modifiers on zones, a whole different set of items...

The list goes on and on...

The admin allows you to share ideas with what can be done to make the game better. The admin actually CARES .

I dont play becuase its free.. as soon as these frakin taxes are payed, i'll be donating.
other key points of interest
- low server population
-Fast leveling
-Low server economy 1k plat is actually worth alot!

I play here because when I quit EQLive I thought I quit for good and gave my accounts away. Live is like a ladder, you have to climb the rungs in order and most of them can't be skipped. This late in the game it's not worth starting from scratch and trying to get to the top again, there's way too many f'ing rungs to have to climb all over again.

WR has no such ladder from what i've been able to tell so far, and if it does there's much fewer rungs and they go by much faster. If WR didn't have accelerated XP I definitely wouldn't be playing here, too many levels to do all over again, especially after experiencing the speed of WoW.

Money really plays no part in it, if I continue to play here i'll end up donating frequently enough to just pay for Live if I wanted anyway.

Ironic thread, considering Rarok doesn't play WR. :p

And hasn't for so long that he still lists his characters being in a non-existant guild!

thank you for stating the obvious to us Melwin as always we appreciate your informative posts  Good to see that GM brain power not going to waste.

I play on WR because I love the gameplay and most of all I enjoy hanging out with guildmates and friends. I can always count on a good laugh when I log in.

Thanks Everyone

Why do I play? If I had something better to do (laying glorious amounts of STD riddled Hookers, playing profession baseballl [although I doubt this one counts], or even sailing around the world), I would. But I'm a broke university student with no income and not enough money to do something fun and hip every day, like drinking.

I enjoyed EQ in the early years. The game was fresh and exciting. But then the expansions after Kunark started flooding in. The game began to become a grind, and the fun was starting to wane. But I persevered regardless of all the d00d's and l33t's that starting dotting the landscape.

It wasn't too much later when logging in felt like having to go to work. I started dreading it more and more when my friends (who were extremely hooked on the game) wanted to play. But since I enjoyed their company, I played with them. It made the game at least somewhat tolerable.

Later still, the game began to scrape the bottom of boring. Killing things was, well, boring. Quests were run of the mill, nothing new to see, except for the expansions. But then seeing one new mob started melding into the same old mob of yore.

Playing EQL use to be an everday thing. But then it started to lapse. I would game maybe 6 times a week, then down to 4, then maybe 2 days out of a week. It didn't take long before I was playing once every 2 weeks. At one point I played only once during one month (that was a waste of a subscription).

Then finally I left EQL last year, after 5½ continuous years of playing. Then I was introduced to WR shortly before my leave from EQL.

I decided to give it a try and see what it had to offer. I was amazed. The content was fresh, mobs had a new feel to them, quests were indepth and personable. Then, which followed next, was the people who played. Both a joy to speak to in OOC and extremely helpful.

Suddenly I felt the spark that was smoldering so many years before, re-ignited with a fury of new prospects. And all those things combined is the reason why I love playing WR!

Oh, and its an additional bonus that its free... Especially for those of us who are on a limited budget! Thanks for all work you guys do! Kudos to all of you!

I like the people on the server. Great server content. A lot of though was put into the game is played out.

I can afford $5 a month for a place that I love, rather than paying $15 and $30 every three months for a place I'd begun to find more and more disparaging every day.

I agree. Where else can you get hours and hours of entertainment for one month for $5?

I am helplessly addicted to sprites in an imaginary world...but mainly cause melwin pissed me off early on enough to give a damn...now I'm stuck and loving it.

I *would* be playing WR if I could get it to work, but no such luck.

Maybe I will try reinstalling again in a week or so, because what little I saw, I liked.
