I've tryed twice to loggin in. i get to the character selection screen then it takes almost ten minuts for it to get my character in. The first time i got in it was so laggy i had to camp and leave the other two times it logged me out to server select screen. I also checked my bandwidth on several sites it was at 2.1megabit.

Okay my datarate is 3.0. But what i did was Exited out totally,then rebooted my computer to allow fresh memory,and to make sure nothing was running in the background (I've found just rebooting my computer fixes alot of things). Then i repatched up to POP to live, I had been trying to get the UI skins to work but gave up since it wont let me move the windows like the default(thats another story), I thought i had fixed the files back. Apparenlty not since after i patched it to live up to POP then patched, and ran it with WRpatcher after that it seemed to fix it. I hope this helps someon else out that might be goin through similar problems, and one more thing Befor You Patch to Live be sure you have a BACKUP FILE OF YOUR EQ FOLDER. sorry just cant stress that enough hehe.

For normal play I would suggest putting your datarate at 5. If you ever go on raids or in a zone where there is alot of people (gm event, or just busy zone) you may even have to use #datarate 2 in game.
Personally I have to play at datarate 1 due to a very bad connection, but I still manage hang on 80% of the time. There will be always random LD's regardless of datarate, and also there is something that will cause characters to get booted without warning or packetloss. It seems to happen the same time when someone logs in or enters the zone. To my knowledge it's been noted. but that is all I can tell you about it.
