What should I box?

My main is gonna be a Beastlord either an Iksar or a Barbarian and im stuck on what to box. Here's what I've thought of so far;
- Cleric (always good to have dependable heals, plus who doesnt enjoy having a pocket cleric?)
- Druid (SOOO useful. Ports, Damage Shields, Movement buffs, healing. Whats not to like?)
- Necromancer (Reliable DoTs and a pet. Very meh on this one)
- Magician (easily able to pet tank due to earth pet, summons toys for pets, has damage shields)

Was hoping to get some advice from the community at large. Thanks :D
 
I love these threads. Best answer is cleric. You could get away with a druid but you'll be mad you didn't make a cleric if you're a min/maxing poopsocker or a guy who has a hard time making friends.
 
You very nearly listed them in order. You probably should have put another Cleric after Cleric and Mage above Necro (though both are pretty bad). The #1 convenience of a druid fades early in your character's life between the mop and gate necks, then you're left to a life of everyone, including you, wishing you were a Cleric.
 
It all depends what you want to do. If your goal is to be useful in raid at a much later time, cleric! But if your endgame is getting to 65, killing some new stuff every once in a while, a druid will provide more utility along the way. Yes, almost everyone has had a druid alt at some point (at least those who didn't main a healer).

This x100. Druid is fine if you just want to casually play the game (yay ports) and not raid seriously.
 
Just an fyi, goons have gone from T1 to T10 with 2 druids, 2 clerics, and 1 shaman. That said, there are 10 million druids on the server, and cleric healing blows druid healing away.
 
If i raid im not boxing, i would much prefer to only have to focus my attention on one toon. I know i can raid with a box, and if i do choose to box during a raid i will more likely than not bring a cleric. But just for my personal playing; druid, cleric, or shaman?

glad you're back, Marza. I've never been even remotely good enough at this game to do "your" content but people who did it and beat it let me scum my characters into their off nights for phats.
