Does weapon damage/dps output use the same formula as eq? IE a fast weapon was best because of min damage bonus.
Is AC calculated the same also?

I was using an Ulak at one point in time, 3/13, and then switched to my fists. Fists were by far better, although I am a human monk. I see a lot of monks using Ulaks at level 20, when their damage is easily getting cut in half by doing so.

My question is, at what level do weapon skills start going up at a reasonable rate?

I'm 13th level and some of my skills are very low, somewhere in the 20s and 30's and with continuous use...

Not trying to make this a compare this to that and saying which is better, but in EQL weapon skills stayed on par with your level... Meaning that if I was using hand-to-hand weapon at 13th level, my weapon skill will either be maxed or close to max by the time I dinged 14th (same with other weapon types)...

Just wonder if WR's weapon skill advancement has been tweaked to make it more challenging for the player?

Fists are stronger per hit but slower. Ulaks on the other hand are faster but hit for less per hit, but offer stat bonuses. So you get to raise h2h faster, and get stats. Fair tradeoff in my book.

The standard ulak has no stat bonuses... Unless you are speaking about the Corroded Darkmetal Ulak or Carved Bloodrock Ulak which do...

i'd say no till about 20+ mate, you level way faster than your skills can go up.

Espeacially if your a caster. Or grouping.

I didn't have any trouble with skills. I parsed ~8 hours raising 2hb from 30ish - 200 at level 40-something... Then again I am a human.

Anyway - h2h and 1hb have been capped at my level since ~level 3.

Well, I didn't compare visually, I compared both in how much I got hurt, and by how quickly I was dropping mobs. I was running about 40 % faster with fists. So I'm not sure what to tell you.

It took me about 12 hours to raise my skill from 0 to 200 in 2hb. So I suggest just keep at it. You are using the piercing weapon in your main hand, correct? Skills will go up, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The only real time that you should worry is when your attack is 300 and you're level 45.
