Weapon Proc?

There is actually two questions. The first is how do you tell when a weapon will proc (what level). The example I have is the Chaotic Dagger, and it procs "Chaotic Feedback". What level will it start to proc? Also there is the "Ebonairre" that procs "Berserker Strength", when does that proc (what level).

The second question is how do you determine which weapon is better? Is there a ratio that is used for Damage and Delay? If so, how does it work?

Any help would be appreciated. :D

Thanks

I have always just done DMG/DLY = RATIO

so a 7 damage 18 delay weapon would be:

7 / 18 = .389

The higher the ratio the more dmg over time the weapon will average. Not saying that is the only way, but that is how I compare weapons.

AS far as dteremining the level a weapon will proc, asking in /ooc or just waiting until it starts are pretty much your two options as far as I know.

There's no list anywhere of what level items proc, as far as I know. One thing that I find kinda surprising is when levels with a required level (i.e. glowing greatsword, req. level 45) don't proc until a higher level (50, though the effect, o'keil's embers, is like a level 4 mage spell). But yeah, as Tempus said, ask in ooc and hope for an answer.

As for your other question, it's a little trickier. Simple damage per delay doesn't quite work for primary hand weapons. Your primary weapon, once you get above a certain level (I think it was 40 in live, no idea here), gets a damage bonus. Let's say you're looking at two weapons: one 5 damage 10 delay, and one 10 damage 20 delay. The ratio is identical. Supposing you have a bonus damage of 5 from your class/level, though, the lower delay weapon would be far better in your primary hand: 5 + 5 damage 10 delay, versus 10 + 5 damage 20 delay.

Also, more attacks = more aggro generated (how much the mobs hate you). If you're trying to hold aggro, that's a very good thing. If you're trying to avoid it, maybe not so good.

I found it.

Weapons on SoD do not have the traditional damage bonus, they have a damage bonus irrelevant of skill that scales with the delay. The REASON fast weapons were ungodly on live is that the bonus was the same regardless of delay, which meant that a 14 damage bonus 3/10 weapon would kick the crap out of a 6/20 weapon with the same damage bonus.

If you believe that this is the case ANYWAYS, contrary to the way I coded it, go pick up a thingypoker (3/9) in Nurga, and try it versus a mastercrafted 2hander (22/45). See which one deals the most damage.

Ratio is all that matters in SoD - Ratio, Double Attack chance and Dual Wield chance. a 10/20 weapon performs the exact same damage-wise as a 20/40 weapon, but taunts more, whereas the 20/40 is better for ripostes on both ends (Less being riposted, higher damage ripostes for yourself).

I dont know if high lvl mobs enrage and ripostes as on live but if they do, a 2h weapon is great for tanking.
I heard the DEX has nothing to do with the proc rate on this server, is that true?

Also, I recommend using DLY/DMG for comparing ratios for two reasons.

1. You get a wider range of numbers to compare. DMG/DLY generally runs from about .15 to 1.5, where DLY/DMG generally runs from 8 to about .5 or less. Because the range is wider it is a little easier to compare weapons that are close in ratio but vary widely in magnitude.

2. You get more round numbers with DLY/DMG. I.E., an 8/24 (dmg/dly) weapon would have a DMG/DLY ration of .33, and a DLY/DMG ratio of 3. Personally I find the math easier and the results more clear using DLY/DMG.

That's all.

I don't follow how using DLY/DMG is better in any way. In fact, I'd say it makes less sense since we use the term DPS (dmg per second).

Yes, dex. doesn't affect proc. rate.

What are procs based on here? All the procing weapons, and my starfall boots currently have awful proc rates (once every several fights). What do I need to improve to get these rates to improve?

Thanks!

The rate is inherent in the item itself, as I understand it. Not much you can do.
