Warriors; from EQLive to Winter's Roar

Hello all :)

I was wondering if there are any places that can help me to make the transition from live to Winter's Roar. I was (and still am) very hardcore in live as a Warrior, and look forward to expending the same effort here. I have many questions, such as how swing hate is calculated, if there is a current AC cap, what the equivalence ratio (roughly) is between AC and HP, how to fully and effectively use Warrior discs (or their counterparts here), how a stun proc translates numerically into hate, what areas should I be looking into which might provide me with experience as well as drops that will aid me in my career as a Warrior here, and what I goals I should ultimately be concerning myself with. For the answers to these questions (as well as the not so basic ones!), can anybody direct me to a particular post or webpage?

Thanks in advance,

Aneurin.

I don't have numeric answers for you -- but this is what I've learned from being an end game monk / shaman.

Warriors are, flat out, the best tanks. Exceptions on a few raid mobs where melee aggro doesn't work (mob ripostes 100% from the front, mob does a target 1000% slow, etc).

I don't believe there is an AC cap. AC works very differently here, in it's relationship to mitigation. Someone else can explain that much better than I can.

Aggro weapons are not difficult to come by, and Taunt is pretty effective. Warriors also have an AA AoE taunt, which never fails. (?)

What else... uhm... oh yea. There are no Discs here. They've been replaced with Combat Styles, and you can read about them in the tomb of knowledge forum.

Swing hate is calculated as ((flat number+AA increase of this number)+(damage/X))

No AC cap. Or haste cap. :)

At level 65, the ratio is roughly 3 HP to 1 AC.

Styles are explained on the Wiki and in the Tome of Knowledge.

You generally can't get stun procs on high level items. Secondary-only items can carry direct hate procs. There are no mainhand hate items.

You will want to get a shit ton of AAs as soon as possible.

shit load = 16
ass load = 32
fek load = 100

so keeping to the same logic

shit ton = 160
ass ton = 320
fek ton = 1000

200 + is a good amount. Hell, 100 I'm sure is a decent amount. Enough to get the really good ones.

Thanke for all the advice thusfar :)

Much of it is similar. I'm coming from a very strong knowledge of the live Warrior class, so I can see and understand some of the reasons for the differences listed. For example, the lack of an AC cap is awesome, and though the ratio of AC to HP is lower than that calculated for the Live values, the lack of a cap most likely compensates for it.

I need to read more fully into the wiki to understand the styles. Again, thank you for the info so far :)

edit: Right now my character is 10 here in WR. I don't want to grind too hard, because this is a game that I can appreciate spending time on the smaller stuff. Especially quests. I love questing, I miss the days when you could zone into Unrest and be amazed at the detail of the vines growing on the walls.
