Warrior Aggro, need some suggestions or insight

OK, i am currently working on gearing up a tank now for future raiding at 65 and need some help or suggestions on some good weapon combinations i could use to help keep aggro as much as possible to compliment taunting. Also another thing i wanted to ask was are the +aggression items working, because i was told that they arent currently working?

Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated, thanks.

One big thing you will want is the CMal gloves for the clicky. CMal 3s are better than 1's of course, but 1's will always help with aggro.

Stun weapons are great aggro, also weapons that are secondary only (tinkerers mallet comes to mind) generally are great aggro or have hate procs attached to them.

Ok, so whats the story with the +aggression items. I noticed some people still have them, such as collar of the flux, goblin battle plans, etc. Wondering if these are still useful, or if i should go ahead and just look to get more deepmetal with better stats instead.

Anyone that can confirm?

The offhand aggroer heirarchy looks something like this-

Smithed Offhand Hate Hammer
Hammer of Visions
Spear of the Hunt
The north DHK dagger
Spear that no longer drops
Wailfury
IP one

If I was you I would try to either nab a hammer of visions or the smithed hammer early on along with starting the spear of the hunt quest.

What is that smithed hammer you are speaking of? Is it a drop despite it's name ( I think so, but it's better to know for sure)? I don't see any recipe on the wiki that would give a +hate hammer.

Hmm I cant edit my post, but there is also a Torment-forged Sword. Same effect.

Thanks for all the suggestions, i placed an order for the torment forged short sword. Also another thing is i started the Ytrazliarch quest as well, isnt this suppose to be a pretty high aggro proc for main hand?

By far your best bet is the Cmal gloves. The Cmal 1 gloves are awesome, and you can get those at 60+.

Also, there are those tmap boots with +5 aggro. I believe they come from a difficult or very difficult map though, so you probably need an entry-level raid force for that.

Also remember that faster weapons generate more aggro.

Ok thanks, got the cmal 1 gloves, and right now i am toying around with moth eaten tree switch 5 dam/10 delay to see how that works for now until i finish Ytrazliarch

I thought aggro was done based on ratio, not the delay.

It's based on damage done as well as delay. So a 10/20 weapon will generate more aggro than a 20/40 weapon, even though they have the same ratio and do the same damage over time. Not knowing the exact formula, it's hard to tell the cutoff point, but of course a 40/40 weapon would likely generate more aggro than the 10/20 weapon even though it is slower whereas a 21/40 weapon would probably still generate less aggro than the 10/20 weapon even though it has a better ratio.

confirmed.

the following numbers are all made up, but illustrate a correct point.

mobs don't like getting whacked at. So, imagine that each attack gives 5 hate, and each point of damage gives 1 hate. So while it still probably is more beneficial to attack with a 35/40 than a 3/7, ratio is not the only thing to consider.q

Something like that, yes.

additional question wiz:

From what i heard when i joined the server this past summer... +/- aggression mods didn't do anything. confirm/deny? and if so, what do they do atm?

Side note here, I always thought it was silly (ok, actually really really retarded) how warriors are so centered around cmal3 gloves that they kinda make or break of the character.

i'm sitting here at work, and bored. So I'm trying to play devil's advocate for why Cmal warrior gloves aren't a bad thing....

I'd say cmal gloves are more class-changing than most relics. relic mez is pretty darn big. melody... mage pet... possibly raego...

I can't think of many groups where i've been with some friends, looking for a cleric, and thought, "oh, i'd take that cleric, but he doesn't have relics." I can think of many times I've passed on a warrior because of gloves.
