Yeah, so I did this quest and now I'm pretty pissed. Anyone guess what happened? Dragon comes to life and 2shots the quest giver. It's a pretty cool idea to have to kill the big boss dragon and stuff, but isn't kind of stupid that if you don't ready every corner of the wiki before this quest (the words about killing the dragon are relatively small compared to the size of the page) you pretty much waste an entire days worth of farming and a 200-400pp item? I think if you turn in the items, there should be a checkpoint sort of deal, and you can repeat the last part as many times as you want. Having you have to do the entire quest again is only going to piss people off even more. I promise you, no one in the history of SoD has ever done this quest, turned it in, had the quest giver get 2shotted, and say, "Woah... that was cool. Well time to do it again." If you want to make quests for good items hard, this is not the way to do it.
 
I feel for you but one thing is pretty obvious. If you know your going to have to kill the dragon then you know it's going to agro the closest person. Thats pretty much going to be the turn in person, or the little gnome you have to keep alive. I know those are not comforting words but at least you know for the next time you do the turn in. Next time just turn in and run like mad. Also make sure you have your dps ready to drop some damage on him the instant the dragon goes active. That goes a long way in saving the turn in persons life.
 
There is no next time. I'm too pissed to even think about it. They need to make the quest in such a way that I don't have to waste an entire day of my life getting items again. It's stupid to have to rely on wiki for quests. It should be a help, not a requirement.
 
Chin up man I know your upset. I did that quest like 2 1/2 years ago and failed mine on the first try. I was upset to but that wand is worth it. When I did it I didn't read the wiki. I just fumbled around and had a little help from some friends.

A few days later I came back this time knowing what to expect. I also brang a gob of dps to help get agro on the dragon right away. I won that try and it felt great. I used that wand for about a year.

Don't toss in the towel quite yet. You'll fell better once you equipt it I promise. :)
 
I've been having some bad luck these past few days. I suppose your right. I'll try again tomorrow and bring some extra muscle. I need to stop being so pouty all the time. Still though, this quest should have some better way to retry it if you've already taken the time to gather all the stuff the first time.

Not sure if this quest is open to all/all...but another way to get the wand is do the progressive warrior ring quest. It was very easy to do, and the final turn in is that wand. So just stop the quest there and keep the wand.
 
no... what pisses me off the most, is after i did this, my faction went from Amiably to Dubiously..... now i cant even sell in my own birthtown. what the fek?
