Video Bug?

I can load the game in fine, everythins runs great. All good. However, if I am tanking, or close to a mob and looking at it a certain way... it all starts to warp and then its as if theres like 5-6 mobs right next to each other and it looks like one big mess.. or I would see like the mob and some wall thats underneath it a floor down somewhere... Kinda weird and annoying... Also, If I dont run eqpn then the mouse is like 1/4 speed and it takes forever to move view with righ click mouse.. with eqpn its fine...

Specs:
- Intel Core 2 Duo Cpu - 2.4ghz
- Intel Desktop Board D975XBX2
- 2048MB Gskill DDR2 800mhz Ram
- Foxconn Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
- Soundblaster X-Fi
- Windows XP SP2

Any ideas? I am stumped (all drivers and everything fully updated)

Are you sure you patched the affinity of both the SoD.Bin file and the Everquest executable?

Nasta,

I've seen some of the video problems with my setup, which is very close to yours, although nowhere close to your severity and I don't have any problems with my mouse at all (although I always run eqpn). Of course, now that you have posted it I'll have it when I get home tonight (dang Necros from the East Coast :haw:).

Off of the top of my mind..a couple things to check into...if you haven't already...

  • What version of the Nvidia driver are you using, the one out of the box? It may not be the most current OR the one supplied with your video card may have issues - I'm using an EGVA 7950 GT and iirc I am running off of the drivers right out of the box
  • Are the video problems more or less severe when you run eqpn - my thought here is that without eqpn maybe the game is trying to use more resources than it can handle, not very likely, but... *shrug*
  • Are you running the SLI setup of the 8800 or just the single gpu? Actually, iirc the 8800 is a dual gpu and an SLI setup would be 4 gpus, meh, whatever

I'll think on it some more and see if I can come up with some other things to check...talk to you later...

I've done the set affinity to the patcher, ive done the dos prompt imagecfg stuff. Anything else for me to try? Pretty sure eq is running 1 processor only righ tnow and still there is that problem.

I don't think it's the patcher you need to set affinity on.

Hi all, I used to play this game a few years ago.

I am back (again), and I have a new computer now, and I'm having the same graphics issue as mentioned above (and shown in the screenshots). This is an old thread, so I'm hoping there might be a solution by now? I did search, but can't find any solutions.

I have a C2D and an E6600, on Win XP. I am using a dual core fix already, and that fixed the dual core problems I was having. But now I have this graphical bug too, and I don't know where to begin really.

Everything looks fine, until I start fighting a critter. In 3rd person mode its still fine, but in first person view, I see crazy huge shapes. I think it might be every time I hit the mob in melee mode. Either that, or its just sporadic.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have one other questions for ya.
Is it possible to get my own spell effects visible in first person view? I used to be able to do this last time I played, although it took some tweaking.
