So I have a brand new system with vista on it and i hate it, nothing works... SoD works just fine but when i try and talk using vent in SoD i can't. I tried running it as administrator and fiddling with the hotkeys but nothing. If anyone has more ideas please lemme know thnxs!!

For starters I've always had problems with vent starting off with an os. There's a bunch of settings including hotkeys you need to hit. While I don't have it up atm as I'm at work I'll check later and post my own settings. Iirc one of the most important is right near the top left (very top iirc) on options. More info would be pretty helpful though.
A) Can you get it running without sod up? ([probably not but jic of a weird settings conflict)
B) Can you get your mic working on vista at all?
C) Getting any errors whatsoever?

yeah, id start with
b) does ur mic work at all under windows vista.
if it does, check out the "Use Direct Sound" boxes at Audio Input and Audio Output (first page in the ventrilo setup, top right) and select ur soundcard in the dropdown menu, trial and error.
I had to play around a bit with those 2 options when i first tried running it on my laptop that runs windows vista, got it to run perfectly though, so should be a resolvable issue.
