We started our first VD chest the other night.

It appears that the ?(Chasm) Ghoul Lord has a 5k nuke that killed our main tank. We had plenty in reserve so had no problem dealing with the wave.

Unfortunately, our main tank is having problems crashing when he changes zones so we had to start the next wave minus one tank. This time it was my turn to get nuked and the party wiped as it was down to 1 tank.

Could someone explain the nuke and any other dangers. Are there are any ways of preventing this by say getting full magic resist AAs or is this something we just need to accept as a danger with VD maps for non-uber tanks.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Ive never noticed anything from the ghouls , maybe they are doing a harm touch or something but it really just sounds like your resists suck.
 
You should never do a raid encounter without PoT4, whether it be a VD map or WW dragons (there are very few exceptions).
 
Wizard's Spell rune, bard's spell rune song, and the alchemist supplied Body potions could all help him survive through the nuke, as well as any HP clicky he can get his hands on (like ornate BP).
 
I'm 99% sure he didnt have any levitate and there was an Infernal, so that was probably the issue.

I'm also pretty sure that ghoul lords dont nuke.

Ghoul Lords don't nuke so..

I was thinking the exact same thing. It sounds like you guys got gravity fluxed and died. Just make sure everyone has DMF or levi on.

The only other thing I can think of was you all got lifetapped by a bunch of shade lords at the same time. This usually happens right in the very beginning of the wave. Each one that agros casts a life tap instantly. If you get a big wave of them someone is going to eat a load of damage. Just hot your tank and start a heal early.

These two examples are the only thing I can think of that got the tanks killed on your VD map.

Also like others stated bring a bard with pot4.
