Vah Quest Back

I have heard it mentioned a few times, how the Vah back is a very important piece of gear. Some have mentioned it being OP, and even Tao (maybe humorously) mentioning nerfing it. I'm currently posting/ reading about this on my phone... so my search may be lacking, but what makes this item so good? The stats are appealing, but the clicky afaik is only OK. Could someone shed a little light on this for me please?

There are a bunch of vah backs. The one referred to as "Vah Back" is this one;
Standard_of_the_Vah_Shir This is what its click does;

Self target, 20 ticks, Beneficial

1: Increase Attack Speed (Haste Above Cap) by 60%
2: Add Weapon Proc: Spell: Taraztu's Healing Flames
3: Improve Casting Time by 45%
4: Decrease Aggro by 25%
5: Increase All Resists by 25
6: Increase chance of critical Heal spells by 30%
7: Increase ATK by 50
8: Increase Movement by 115%
9: Increase Max Hit Points by 1000
10: Increase Spell Damage from Direct Damage spells by 45%
11: Increase Spell Damage from Damage over Time spells by 45%

This seems good to me.

Oh wow, yes this seems very powerful. The latest one I had seen was standard of the vah rehn. This is much more acceptable when I read "OP Back".
Thank you for the reply :)

Tao (maybe humorously) mentioning nerfing (the effect on the Standard of the Vah Shir)

With humor, but meant seriously.

That said, you should keep in mind that I'm Lead-GM, and I am not a member of the Dev Team. My Dev-related access is limited to the things I do with tradeskills and whatever limited information I need in the process of handling petitions, appeals, and donator-related concerns. Making any changes to this item is outside my jurisdiction.

That's sexy for sure. Any chance the vah rehn banner could get it's attack boost moved to slot 7, like this one has? Those who use SV would "lub u long time!"

it would be amazing if the buff from Standard_of_the_Vah_Shir could be made to overwrite werefrog illusion.

well, you're casting it, so why don't you just click the werefrog illusion first?

it's a bigger "problem" that gog overwrites it. or perhaps the problem is that aod doesn't overwrite it. you decide

For how often this can be used and how hard it is to get I think this item is a fine item.

And I hate AoD (will not let it be cast on me) because it DOES overwrite my elemental illusion - Bummer.

This. I would wager that extra spell crit is more beneficial than making sure you appear as an elemental, considering that you still get all the actual benefits from the Elemental Form either way

You are so wrong I am afraid - my appearance has nothing to do with it.

My preference is to be able to SEE - that is FAR FAR more important than the odd crit.
My prefered method to obtain this vision is my elemental illusion.

My STRONG STRONG preference is to have this not be overwritten by AoD.
If werefrog illusion is not overwritten then perhaps consideration could be given to not overwriting elemental illusion - ***PLEASE***

Perhaps keep one of the other common raid buffs on then, like EoT, or acumen? Or, if outdoors, FOE?
Or, I don't know, get one of the many, many, many pieces of equipment with vision enhancement of some sort on it?

That's pretty neat, I was going to suggest using sotc in your ammo slot for ultravision when you know you're going to be getting aod.

Well there is a major part of the problem.
Because of the way crits are implemented for mages it makes more sense for AoD/GoG to be cast on ANY other dps class. Consequently I am not expecting it to be cast on me and have not taken steps to cater for that possibility. (It is even less likely after I have gently explained to the chanter that if he does it again I will come round and stuff his spell book down his throat - well not really but he does get the message).

Threw together some code to try to re-apply any other running illusion effects when another illusion effect fades, seems to work

That would be fabulous.
I really hope this can be sorted and implemented.
Thx Zaela

This has the really bad consequence of meaning all shamans are now stuck in bear form which has something like three animations. I like to be able to tell me when i'm sitting down/proccing ok argh

+1 on not liking this change.
