Vah Bst Pet - Luclin Tiger, or Old Tiger?

Title pretty much describes my question. I'm excited to be able to play a Vah, and I rolled a Beastlord. However, I don't want to wait till level 9 to find out if the pet is one of the old blocky tigers, or the newer, Luclin model tiger. Can anyone who knows please illuminate me?

Blocky models > new models always

I would assume that there is a graphics option you could toggle but I guess I do not know for sure
 
hmm, if there's a toggle for new vs. old pet models, I don't think I've seen it. I really like the new tiger model, to the point that if the Vah pet is the old model only, I'd go Ogre. Blocky bears > blocky tigers.

There's a toggle for pet type in the graphics screen setup, but I don't know if this affects tigers. I know for sure it affects Elementals.

Best bet if you don't get an answer here (I don't know the different models you're referring to) is to create a toon and hang around athica or newport (both on the Mansion of Portals system) and watch for a Vah BL with a pet and see.

I have luclin models on for pets, I see Luclin tiger graphic. I haven't tried turning it off and seeing what they look like. Level 9 doesn't take that long to get to.. really.
 
I have Luclin pet models turned on, but I see an old tiger. It wasn't that bad though, I actually didn't notice until I saw that my pet was swiping with just one claw instead of pouncing with both on his attack animation
 
Bah, I may just re-roll Ogre if I can't find a Luclin tiger pet tonight in Athica to see for myself. Oh, and I looked in the Settings, the selection is for "Horses and Elementals". I didn't see a separate place for Pets, per se.

I will also need to check on some button I recall seeing while I was patching live, something about a texture upgrade. I wonder if that would make a difference?
 
It won't if the pet selection for vah is hard coded to be the old models. Like when you have all luclin graphics on but some NPCs are still old models.

If I remember right, it is the old model even with graphics on.

p.s. the "Horses and Elementals" box is the pets box. Just wasn't worded that way.
 
ok, thats enough of a confirmation for me. I'm gonna reroll ogre, and never look back.
Then, once my guy is around 50-ish, I will by then have reacquainted myself enough with the class to go back to my toon from when I first played SoD - a 65 Bst named Japheth. I wonder if anyone even remembers him? ; )
 
Wouldn't it be faster to just play the 65 BST and relearn faster without frustration of armor, spells, and pre65 groups?
 
Faster, yes. But I'd be a crappy Bst until I recalled and remembered everything. And besides, I've dragged a friend back into it, so we're going to be bringing up our toons together. He never had a high-level toon originally.

In fact, I'm hoping it will be somewhat of a relief, because unlike the first time, I won't need to focus so much on maxing things like Sense Heading, Swimming, and all of the various weapon skills, like I did with the first guy.
 
You always want sense heading maxxed.. just make life easier. besides, you need it for tmaps (if it is your map).
