Unplayably fast after upgrade

Hi Guys,
After a major upgrade to my comp this weekend SoD is now insanely fast running to the point that mouse clicks are ignored and on the character select screen my char doesn't spin around, he just stands there twitching his arms and all you hear in the background is the swooshing of his weapon constantly.
Now I know about multi-cores and have set it to run on one core, I have also spent the entire weekend reading all the threads in the tech support forum and tried out all the ideas suggested to slow my comp down, from maxxing out all gfx in the game to slowing down my CPU, all to no avail. I've even downloaded the original EQ game from Steam again and have the same issues with it trying to run on the live servers.

The new bits in my comp are:
AMD 8core piledriver CPU @ 4.2Ghz (not OC)
Asus Sabertooth Mbd
8Gb Ripjaws RAM
Asus Radeon HD 7870 GPU
Adata 120Gb SSD

Unfortunately, it seems like my SoD days might be numbered so I might be off to look at EQ2 (which is running nicely).
If anyone can suggest some idea that'll slow my comp down enough to make the game playable I'd be really happy 'cos I just don't have room on my desk for two computers AND my laptop! :p

Cheers

It could be your ripjaws ram that sounds really fast. Alternatively have you tried running some video encoding in the background while sodding?

Running Windoze 7, haven't tried encoding while playing but that would be a temporary fix at best so no really suitable.
tried the AMD Dual core optimiser proggy, dunno if that did anything or not but it certainly didn't slow the game down enough to play.
It's got me baffled at the moment that's for sure! :(

sooo if you go into your bios, do you have high performance selected? If it is, set it to normal. Make sure absolutely everything is up to date (including bios).

I'm getting the same thing too actually.

4.7 Ghz 8-core AMD processor,
16 gb ram,
SSD,
Radeon R9 290x

I'll try going into settings, but I just installed everything onto this computer and my character load screen spins really fast with my character freaking out and then when I get in game I run around really really fast. I had to crash the game to get out though because it wasn't registering my clicks often enough to even log out.

EDIT: I tried again and got to log out. The 30 second countdown took less than 5 seconds. I run REALLY fast. But so does everything else...

Check "Bind Affinity to Processor:" in the patcher options and launch the game through the patcher. (You should always launch through the patcher anyway even if you aren't binding to a processor)

I was having the same problem, and was able to fix it by uninstalling the AMD dual core optimizer. I have no idea why getting rid of it fixed the problem but it did.
