Understanding Rogue Abilities

Im curious about the rogue AA ability "Improved backstab", its ability to stack with say, critical hits, and the rogue style Backbiting.

I just heard from a few rogues on the server that it is only possible to backstab for around... 3k with a 16 damage piercer and that we do not get double backstab. I find this rather strange since the rogue AA Improved backstab claims to increase backstab damage by x6, x7, and x8. As I read to be multiplied by 6, 7 and 8. Considering I am able to backstab for aobut 300 damage at level 43 with a 12 damage piercer, by level 60 i should be able to hit 400ish possibly more. Now with the AA ability Improved backstab at level 3 adding x8, say I backstab for 400, add in the 8x damage does that not make it 3200? Thats fine and good if so.

Now say I critical hit that supposedly 3200 damage backstab? Does that not double the damage to 6400? And if you add in the backbiting ability which triples the damage, does that not equal 3200 x 3 x 2 = 19200?

It does seem like alot for a rogue to deal in one hit but you have to consider that we apparently do not get double backstab on WR, and if all these skills stack (Which they probably do not, and is probably why I was told it was only possible to BS for 3kish) then they should deal a crapload of damage.

Don't think of this as a flame, or as critisism. I am merely confused as to how the abilities work, and stack together.

I played a rogue to level 60 on Tallon Zek for over 3 years, so I have an idea of how they work, but I understand this is completely different from EQlive

Edit: Did more research, came up with that Improved Backstab must add 8 base damage to your weapon for backstabs only. Effectively making a 16 damage piercer a 24 damage piercer on the backstab. Allowing for a max normal BS for about 850ish damage. Adding a crit to that would be around 1700 damage. And adding backbiting would probably be around 3000-3500 IF criticals are not possible while using that style. If so.. then a max BS of about 6k.

Does that sound right?

You have it incredibly confused. x8 means x8 of a basic hit with your mainhand. Your backstab begins to x2, then goes up to x5 at level 59. After that, Improved can bring it to x8.

You don't. As it is, even with a plain x5, rogues deal the most damage in melee (This is true and tested) so it'd get ridiculous if you got double stab too.
