Unbinder Inprovement

First i don't know if this has ever been suggested before or is even possible, but for awhile i was thinking it would be awesome if the unbinder also had the option to enchant a piece of equipment to give it pristine stats.

The tradoff would be that the item would be perrminatly bound to the character, and could never be unbound or unenchanted basically making it like any other bind on pickup item.
From what i remember the bind on equip change was made to reduce the amount of gear for sale on the listsold, so this would be another way to remove a lot of gear from circulation.

I think the pristine stats on items you loot yourself was a cool idea, but let's face it, the vast majority of all gear is farmed by high tier characters that have no interest in the gear other then selling it. This gives characters that need the boost in stats a way to get it other then looting it themselves, but still retains the bonus from looting it yourself by still having it fully tradeable.

As for cost i am still unsure what would be fair since the service should be avialiable to anyone, not just all the people with tons of platinum to burn, but since this would basically destroy the value of a item i was thinking it would either be free or possibly something like a smaller percent of the items value.

I think this would be useful for everyone since a new character on the server could boost the stats on any gear they worked hard to buy, all the way to pre raid 65s that are still stuck buying a large amount fo their equipment.

Well that's my thoughts for the moment, looking forward to any suggestions/feedback

I really just wanted to tell you how bad of an idea this is, but I gave it an honest read, and I think you might be onto something here. So for everyone else who had the same kneejerk reaction I did, at least hear me out.

I understand this goes against the purpose of PRISTINE items being a bonus benefit to characters who were actually there helping to get it. Yet in practice I generally see people boxing a higher-end character to snipe whatever named and only bringing along their own to actually loot it. This creates a dichotomy:

(1) At the lower end, people are just happy to loot something nicer than what they have, and PRISTINE being a bonus for the lucky looter is awesomesauce. The job PRISTINE does here would be unaffected by the OP's suggestion.

(2) At the higher end, instead of people dealing in items already on the market (which is well-maintained through unbindind and unenchanting), you have increased farming (and sniping) of items solely for their PRISTINE bonus. A relatively expensive way to purchase this PRISTINE bonus would act as a secondary platsink while removing items from the market. Due to the mudflationary aspects of an MMO market, this could be a great benefit.

The question would then become whether or not such a potential benefit is worth the associated tradeoffs and Dev time. I actually feel this idea has enough merit to warrant such a discussion, and I could even see myself really getting behind this idea. Just let me know if my reasoning doesn't hold water somewhere; I'm not used to being so agreeable on the forums.

i honestly really like the idea however its getting free stats without a buff slot taken. it should cost atleast the unbind feee to do something like this. but another good plat sink none the less.

Instead of Pristine items, call them Immaculate and make them no drop.

I would sink some plat into items for this.

What if it were a questable option. Much like many gatenecks, you gather and turn in a large amount of common drops for a dungeon/zone and then are given the ability to "immaculate" armor/weapons from that dungeon/zone.

I think this is a great idea, like the OP stated pristine gear is rarely(very rarely even?) in the hands of those that would use it. This is obviously not pertaining to no drops or anything, but just the vast amount of BOE equipment used by characters in the 40-65 range that aren't 'raid-quality' (gear wise) but most likely also can't obtain the topish end BOE gear themselves.

I think a fee would be good, but not equal to the unbind cost. How about equal(or possibly double) to the benifit of the pristine modifcations? IE 10% of the items unbind, or 20% if double.

I think thats a good middle ground, I really like this idea.
