Unable to load zone 'sro'?

I tried to zone into what used to be sro, and eq crashed telling me it was unable to locate the zone, sro, in the folder...
So i repatched, loaded the maps folder, and tried again... same error... now my character is stuck in a zone i cant access... any sugestions please?
 
A friend of mine is having this same issue, I worked with him for days to fix this, he had to re-install from scratch, then repatch from Live, then re-setup SoD ... finally he could log back in since his char was stuck in SRO ... then he zoned to Oasis, and it did the same thing. He hasn't bothered to play since. But I'm thinking it might not be SoD or missing files, he's running a dual core computer which doesn't play nice with EQ to begin with. I've yet to hammer out a solution ... especially since I don't have a dual core box to come up with a solution.
 
ouch, thats not what i want to hear lol... A friend zoned me outta sro, so i have yet to go back... but if the same thing happens thats it. Although, i dont have a dual core comp, the same one i played eq on for years actually
 
Here's a simpler solution (only works if you actually have friends (that play SoD)):
1) Check your eqfolder for all sro files! Gasp! They're not there!
2) Make your friend send you the files.

Here's a longer solution that works even if you have no friends:
1) Check your eqfolder for all sro files! Gasp! They're not there!
2) Do a complete file check through on live.

Note: If they in fact are there, they might be corrupted, so just delete them and follow step two.
 
I wouldn't recommend patching to live:

- Desert of Ro recreated. North Ro, Oasis, and South Ro have been replaced with a new North Ro and South Ro. Watch out for Sand Giants while checking out the new scenery.

Forgot to mention ... already did all of these ... still "f's" up.
 
Yeah I've given up trying to fix it for my friend, I sent him my SRO files and he was able to get back in, but then when he went to Oasis it started the same thing with that zone too. I sent him my files for oasis and he's still stuck.

This is a problem. Telling people to patch to live is a

BAD IDEA

So, get the files from a friend (you can PM me, I'll send it)
 
I sent him mine, that work on my box ... his still fails. Not sure if there's another file(s) other than the oasis files that was updated and causing the problem.
 
This happend to a compy that I set up and patched from live from scratch. For some reason SRO, and Oasis did not get downloaded from the live patcher. All I had to do was replace the missing zones using a CD that I had at my hosue and it worked fine.
 
yep yep best way to avoid this problem is to back up the ro and oasis files before patching and copy them back to the folder after patching to live.the ones on your install disk will work fine but for those that have the downloaded version your gonna have to get the files from someone that has a backup or install disks. :sadf:
 
I have a character now stuck in SRO and am without my cd's to install.. While I wait for my replacement cd's.. Can any of you nice people send me the SRO files I need?

I've answered a few petitions like this now, and I'm thinking of stopping. If your Sro files don't work, you might need to reinstall from the CD. Since we're probably not going to provide the zone files for you, you'll need to find another way to get them.

I wasn't petitioning a Gm for this.. I was simply hoping a nice person who has had this issue before would help me out.
