UI Help

you download the UI from wherever you found it and find the file EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml. you copy that and put it into your characters ui folder. I typically rename the old file to something like EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml.OLD so I don't lose it if something is fucked up with the new file.

yea that's what i tried but it didn't change, so was wondering if someone might know how to get it to work with the default UI. thanks for the help tho Daffie

You can only use some UI pieces from particular times in EQ history. I know that sounds vague and bad, however its the best way to explain it. Newer content means newer versions of UI pieces are necessary because of changes in the game. Since SoD runs from a client around 2004~ time frame everything you use needs to be last updated then. I made a very long and (imo) detailed post about UI settings and how to configure things. There is also a DL link for my UI which you can chop and piece together any way you see fit. Any questions you can certainly PM or ask me in game.

Where did you find it, and when it didn't work, did you get an error message? there are also TGA files that may need copied. I have only ever edited .xlm.

I'm having this same issue myself and I'm not sure how to get it working. I'm trying to use Vitali's hotbar with my Velious UI, but when I copy/paste the xml into the folder, it doesn't show up in-game -- it just continues to show the simple default hotbar. Is there something else you need to do to replace a particular UI window?

Edit: Well, I'm not exactly sure how I did it, but I got Vitali's hotbar working, and it actually even matches the Velious UI's style in a way I wasn't expecting. I was able to get it working by putting it into the default UI folder. I had only been putting it into the Velious UI folder before, which didn't work at all. I guess I still have a lot to learn about UI customization, heh.

Usually when updating to a new ui, you copy the default ui folder into the same root directory, rename it, and then unzip the newly downloaded ui into the renamed directory. From there you log your character in and open the options menu (alt+o). Click the ui button, and select the renamed folder name. You need to do this for each character.

It really isn't a good idea to update the default folder.
