Ubuntu 8.10 + Wine

I've finally got myself a new computer, but I'm having trouble getting EQ set up with Wine on Ubuntu 8.10. Here's my setup:

Motherboard: Asus M3N78-EM
Graphics: GeForce 8300 (onboard)
Memory: 4 Gb OCZ
Wine v1.1.10 (development release)

I know this isn't the version issue mentioned by a few people in the past, because I have a laptop running Ubuntu 8.04 and Wine 1.1.04, and as per the SoDwiki:

Output:

Obviously, I don't get this error on the other computer. The "fixme" message, however, does appear, and does not seem to make a difference one way or another.

Can anyone give me suggestions, debug ideas, etc? Any help is appreciated. I hate to have to install Windows XP just for the sake of playing SoD.
