Trouble making a new char

I tried to make a new character today, but every name I've tried has been rejected. I must have tried about 50 names and can't get any of them to work. Some were very strange spellings, so I doubt it's a problem with that name being taken. My sister has also tried and has gotten every name rejected, as well.

I made a character a few days ago with no problem whatsoever, as did my sister.

Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

I've had similar difficulties regarding character creation. Names that aren't taken are refused with the afore mentioned error; getting a "right" name seems totally arbitrary, as far as I can tell. And yes, I've checked that names rejected are indeed not taken.
 
My wife had this same problem last night. She tried at least 20 different names before she gave up and hit the auto-name thing. Which I might add gave her a name she will be asked to change later on.
