Please note that the new travel systems will not only take you anywhere the Nexus did, but to even MORE places, and is no slower, so travel isn't actually made harder in any way, and such is not the intention of this change.

I'm probably insane but didn't the Nexus have 5 port locatoins?
North Badlands
South west Tarhyl
GD
Mistwoods
Faydark

and under the new system is there still only 5 port locations?
Oggok, Newport, Thurgadin and Underhill (AkAnon), and a SH Rift

I have not really tried out the new system personally so I might be way off on this but I am not seeing how this system takes you to more places than the Nexus previously did? are there other transports/coaches/rifts that I'm not knowledgable of?

and what would be the quickest way to SH ? It would appear that getting to SH and the zones from SH (Akheva, Cmal, Sseru etc..) will now take a far longer time to get to. I'm not saying i'm all against the new system or such just trying to get the hang of it a bit more. I might suggest adding SH to the coach system but thats just me.

Technically nexus connected everything at the shortest central point. Running from SK neck port to a "hub" now requires you go to thurgadin instead of the nexus spires. That's further through GD.

Bancak, Faetharc, SK, ewastes, GD, Thurgadin now becomes the quickest way out of Mielechs now that you have to run through all of mistwoods 2 town zones and wait and ride a boat in erudin.

Getting to Land of Magic requires gating, porting, or running through wbadlands and systematically doing the opposite to get OUT of it.

These are just my calculations.

Everything now boils down to which buttock do you want to be the pain in your ass? Getting TOO Haven of Lore and all the zones on the other side of it, or getting FROM Haven of Lore and all the zones on that side.

And then there is erudin which is in no way closer under the new system now that you have to go all the way through it, the boat, and mistwoods.

I'm glad that as per usual, you only cite the places where travel are longer.

I'm not even sure why I bother since this whining isn't reality-connected, but here we go:

Nexus did not previously take you anywhere close to Freeport, for one. It did not take you anywhere really close to Newport (couple big zones away).

Access to cities and to basically all of Old World and to most places you raid is as easy or easier than before. There are a few places where travel is longer, mostly LoM - Old World and *gasp* the horrifying five minute boat ride from Erudin to Qeynos that DESTROYS YOUR EXISTANCE IF YOU DARE ATTEMPT IT.

Also, Tmal isn't in Lands of Magic? Or did you just forget about that one because your argument needs to be as selective and whiny as possible? :)

bahh

I start a post then get comments and the answer never seems to get back to my original post......

I was not attempting to whine about it i was asking a question about shortest path to SH and if there were other coaches not listed..???

oh about the boats they don't bother me much so far as they work and when zoning I don't end up sitting in the middle of a water filled zone with no RIDE.

You can now take the Carriage to Freeport.

I don't think there's any real need for that. The Newport coach is two zones away from newport. Co-incidentally, it's also two zones from SH. You could almost say the Newport Coach is also the SH coach.

I was under the impression that Freeport was a high-level xp zone. Am I wrong? If so I don't know why I thought that.

thanks

ok thanks thats what i was missing I didn't see the Freeport coach... it was there but i missed it. Cool now its better i was just curious how to get near Freeport and SH ThAnks on the clarification

I must say I really like centering the travel system around cities.

But tehre are places that have become significant harder to reach, and there are places that have become a lot easier to reach too.

While the boat ride to Eurudin wont kill you, it definatly makes placed like warrens and FR remote zones. Bancak and Meilech are also even more remote now that they used to.

I guess this also means that destroying your shadow dwarf faction means you require a porter to have access to velious.

In the possive side Blackburrow is much more accessable. The oggok area and freeport area and now close to the action. And twilight sea became a LOT closer to the action.

The new travel system will affact where people hang out and hunt. But I assume that was the intention, and hopefullty it will be for the better.
