transmute pet, mage spell

I'm really enjoying the balancing between the elemental pets here. The flavor between them adds to my fun.

What irks me though, is what happens when I join a new group. I'd rather not dismiss my water pet when there's a shaman present. Or dismiss my earth pet when we finally get a good tank. I've usually taken some time and acquired some armor and maybe a good weapon for my pet.

So I'm suggesting a spell that transmutes the mage pet from one elemental type to another, but preserves the equipment.

You would need four, I think. One for each pet. It would need to look at the level of pet you have now to determine what level of pet it was going to 'zone in' for you.

I would suggest wiping the buffs, but that's just me.

Give it a 30 second cast time to ensure it's not done on the fly somehow, but I think you would want to keep the manna cost low so that low level mages could use it.

Perhaps at higher levels there is finally one pet type that dominates, like the level 65 air pet dominating back in the Corporate Game. I hope not, since that is one of the things I liked about my mage early on and slowly grew to dislike at the higher levels back there.

Thanks for your time.

This is a neat idea, and I fully support it if it can be done, I would suggest keeping the buffs too personally as it would be a major bonus, and otherwise really I don't see it being used particularly much at the lower levels simply because it doesn't cost much for the regular summons, and you wouldn't be running into the bop sop do I cast a different pet or ride it out problem. If it didn't I personally don't see it being used all that much.

Unfortunately yes, the relic pet dominates all the other varieties, so pretty much when you get it, that's all you'll be casting. It's a shame because it pretty much just gets the one proc whereas earlier in the levels there was at least some use for tactically choosing your pet based on the situation. At 63 personally my only used pets were really water and air, I didnt bother with fire/earth at all. I have heard of people using fire in groups etc around that level pre-relic, but it's hps were far too low for my tastes, so I never did. Earth the general consensus is it's fairly useless comparitively, as people constantly bitch about it in groups, and it's damage is the lowest by far. Pre-earthsplit I used it alot though.

It would also be interesting if this suggestion were ever undertaken (again, if it were possible) to add some variety to the relic pet itself, again bringing back an element of strategy to the class post relic that is sorely missed. Something in the vein of an upgraded proc for each from their original, similar to how the relic pet now is an upgraded version of airpet.
