Tranquil Focus

This proc appears on the monk thaz gloves. It is a 300 atk bonus for 1 tick. It's pretty much the coolest idea ever, however the server tick tends to cut the bonus dramatically short, often fading before I get even a single attack.

There was another discussion some months ago you can find at http://forum.shardsofdalaya.com/showthread.php?t=13180&highlight=tranquil.

The conclusion was that this would be looked at at the same time the rest of thaz armor was addressed (and it wasn't).

I have 4 problems with the effect as it stands:

1) A tick is much too short to provide a measurable increase in DPS.
2) In order to make it proc, I either have to use bare fists or a secondary attack other than flying kick. This prevents me from benefiting from either the flying kick mod on the thaz boots, the fire damage on lava-scorched clogs, or the proc on flaring sandals. In exchange, I get to use a secondary attack with lower DPS, I have to click it extremely frequently because the repop timer on those abilities is very fast, and the DPS increase is very low. (ok that was a really not a "second" reason)
3) It requires an empty buff slot and it's really hard to convince myself that a <6 second buff is worth is.
4) In exchange for this extremely limited bonus you have to mash the tiger claw or eagle strike button extremely fast. There should really be some reward for having to mindlessly mash a button at top speed.

I think the following changes should be made (and the same goes for all similar effects):

1) Make it go to the song window. Having a super short duration buff is the biggest waste of a buff slot ever, especially when it's benefit is infinitesimal.
2) Increase the duration to two ticks and decrease the attack bonus to 200. This way the damage increase will actually be parsable while still increasing DPS about the same as a theoretical 1 tick buff would.

I think either of those options is acceptable. It just bugs me that there is this cool-seeming, incredibly tempting, but utterly useless effect.

If the intent of the item is to encourage the use of bare fists, I think the balance issue with them is self-correcting; it doesn't matter how good they are if you have to take your weapons off to use them.

At the same time, creating gloves strong enough to actually make monks use h2h once in awhile (and i'm really just talking about putting some magic damage on them) would make them one of the most powerful class armor pieces which seems to defeat the point of nerfing them at all. In any case, I'd love to see this effect find some use, but because I strongly object to genuinely useless effects floating around on my items, I would be okay with seeing it gone altogether.
