Well, their dps remains the same but average dps over time increases as the role of burst dps becomes less and less apparentJust to clarify. There is a difference between DPS and Damage. A wizards mana pool increasing isn't going to directly increase his DPS.

Wiz said:For a frame of reference, my general idea of how classes potential for DPS (not including buffing others' DPS) should be ordered:
1: Rogue (Sustained master), Wizard (Burst master, decent to good sustained)
2: Monk, Ranger, Magician, Necromancer
3: Warrior, Druid, Beastlord
4: Knights, Shaman, Cleric, Enchanter, Bard
On scale of DPS reliance... note that this isn't ordered by how good the class is at it, only how much of its DPS is on which end of the scale.
BURST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSTAINED
Wizard | Druid Enchanter | Magician Cleric | Shaman Necromancer | Ranger Shadowknight Paladin | Beastlord Bard | Warrior Monk Rogue

Rogue dps has continued to gain on damage output(through ever upgrading weapons). There is still yet to be a rogue with the 18 damage dagger.
I prefer to break it down differently, Derek.
The top DPS classes are:
Necro
Mage
Wizard
Rogue
Ranger
Each excels in something different. Each will be ideal in certain situations. You can't say that just one is the most... you would have to know the situation.
