Tome Descriptions

In line with spell descriptions can we get tomes to provide a description and put a class on the class tomes? I think it would be great for everyone.

When you open a tome (as in rightclick it to read), you can read what it does and what class it is for in case of a class tome. So I'm a bit at a loss what you are asking for here.

Put the description on the item link just how clickies have it. That way people can see what it does when linked in chat and doesn't have to already have the tome in possession.

I will see what I can figure out. Spells are different. I have found one field that might work, but it could be limited to 80 chars. Devs are working on 2.5, so that is their priority.

I still have more weapon procs to do too. But spell descriptions are getting better too.

I need to test a few things still.

Having to open a tome to see the class it is for means you must have the tome in your possession. Therefore, when players see Euphorbium Mastery I linked in an auction for the first time, they don't have any way of knowing what class it is for unless they either pay a visit to the wiki or ask in chat. I believe Gwaine is suggesting that tomes be given a class listing in the actual item window that comes up when a player clicks a link.

Here is what a tome's item window looks like now:

Code:
Euphorbium Mastery I

This book is closed.
[LORE ITEM] [NO DROP]
WT: 0.0 Size: SMALL

This is what it ought to look like:

Code:
Euphorbium Mastery I

This book is closed.
[LORE ITEM] [NO DROP]
WT: 0.0 Size: SMALL
Class: DRU

Presumably, there'll be some obnoxious client limitation that will prevent this or else someone on the team would have thought of this by now...

Yes, its possible. The client can show some info. And useable classes and short description can be done. I will try to finish putting some test cases to the wheel tonight if I can.

Why has it not been done before? The same as spell descriptions. It was never a priority. An frankly sucks to do stuff like that.

And I dont think it was investigated where to put it.

I think it should also show the description of what the item actually does. I took this right off the wiki:
Increases effectiveness of all damage shields in druid's group by 10 / 20 / 30 / 40%

I don't remember what description the Dreadland's Glyphs give, but if someone is around there they may want to check if they should be updated too.
