Tmaps and you(re sanity)

Two hours IS a long-ass time for you to spend on a map, but instead of trying to trivialize maps, improve your character in a different way and come back to maps later, or just sell the maps and spend the time xping with new gear you can buy with the proceeds.

Or, get a 12 person group and do maps much faster instead of whining about it not being "worth it".
 
I am trying to say, there was minimal downtime between waves. I don't know why no one is listening to that.

Because you ARENT listening to us. You had too much down time/med time inbetween digs and killed the waves too slowly. Downtime at all between waves means you're going to be there a while. There is no other reason you would keep getting waves instead of chest. There is no way a competent group would spend 2 hours digging. So Either your group sucked, people were afk or your group was level 20. The chest spawn times are fine, its your group that was lacking.

I did 4 easy maps in 4 different zones in 2 hours yesturday. Non stop killing and diggin as soon as the wave was done... We never waited more than 4 waves. Limiting the amount of waves would be handing loot to undergeared under prepared players who do not deserve the loot.

Go back with a better group and eliminate that down time, you'll never spend more than half an hour on a map again.
 
I have definitely noticed the correlation between killing/digging fast and chests popping quicker, however, sometimes even when you're really cooking maps will take an unseemly long time. Not that I am complaining, because if every time it was dig-dig-dig-chest it would be, well, stupid.

I do like the idea of chest mini-bosses that drop plat/gems or something like that would be a great way to 'reward' (or inversely punish those that are trying something to hard/taking to long by likely wiping them) people who get the occasional snooze mode on the random generator.

You mean the massive down time of MEDDING FOR 20m. How is that too much downtime?! Undergeared? Isn't the whole point of Tmaps to get gear? Not to mention you seem to think it's impossible to get a chain of bad pops with the RNG.

As for Wiz, how the hell does a max number of waves allow you to do it with any group? Your group would have to be competent enough to kill the waves in the first place. Think about the logic here. If your group is killing 10 waves then they are obviously set up enough to do 15 or 20 or 30. So how the hell is that trivializing it? Honestly I don't even know why you brought up time as I never said the time limit to despawn should be removed.

The actual downtime between the death of the mobs and the start of the next dig is irrelevant. What is relevant is the time between each dig.

(warning: numbers out of thin air, to illustrate the point) Let's say the map requires you to dig every 5 minutes for the chest to have any chance at all to spawn. If you dig, take 3 minutes to kill the wave, then med for 1.5 minute, then dig immediately after, you're fine, because there are only 4.5 minutes between waves. If you dig, take 5 minutes to kill the wave, then med for 0.5 minutes, then dig again, you will NEVER get the chest because there were 5.5 minutes in-between digs.

Uhhh the time limit is tied in directly with the waves. If there was a max amount of waves then the time limit would no longer fully be in place. Tmaps are NOT about taking on each individual wave, they are about taking on each individual wave fast enough to keep increasing the chance for the chest to spawn. That is the challenge.

Besides, as long as you have reasonable amounts of downtime, there is a max amount of waves as the chance for the chest will eventually reach 100%. The gist of it is that your group cannot handle these tmaps, get a better / bigger group or find a way to kill faster instead of asking for things to be made easier for you.

Alright, I apologize then. I misunderstood how the chest spawning mechanism worked. I guess you may as well close this thread then, as with the way the waves work sub-boss style creatures would just take longer to kill and apparently that would be to the detriment of the group.

Only if your group is ill-equipped to handle them. Having some super-mobs on Tmaps WOULD be pretty neat, if someone wants to dream up a few and implement them.

Haha oh I am torn between hating you for that subtle slight and liking you for seeing some potential in that idea.

I really think it would be nice to throw a few in there. Zombie pirate lords, liches, halflings. The possibilities are endless.
