Played EQ many, many years ago. Mainly solo-ing. I do miss the original EQ and have been lurking around SoD a few times. Finally decided to create an account and check it out.

First surprise seems to be that this isn't a "copy" of EQ but something different. How different I have to figure out...

I've just installed EQ Titanium and now I'm patching... Excitement! Best of all, it's the tradeskills I'm looking forward to. Talk about crazy.

I've just finished watching .hack//SIGN too, that might be yet another reason.

Trust me.....this server's version is way better than original vanilla. You get that old school feel combined with great content. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Lots of things make it great here, but one of the biggest things is that even if you played on one of the Classic/progression servers, it's the same thing again. This has the feel of Classic/Kunark/Velious, with completely different mobs/spawns, different formulas and dynamics, some classes way different (pally/bard for starters), etc... So you even get to have the "this is the first time i've ever seen this" experience which was half of what made EQ so awesome.

Welcome! You might want to check out the wiki, particularly this page that lists some of the many differences. Might help you get your bearings. There is also a wonderfully helpful Zone Connections map, linked from the zones page. But um, yeah, visually some things might look the same here, but that's pretty much where it ends.
