This sounds great, but .. (disclaimer-newbie questions)

This sounds like the perfect remedy for MMO blues. Since I left EQ years ago I'vemade a cycle through various lack luster games, but lately I've been toying with the idea of returning full circle to my roots.
A couple of things kept me at bay, but perhaps this server can solve those problems. Just a few questions if ya'll (Its a word in TX!) dont mind.

Is the server top heavy: If I start a new character will I working solo for 50+ levels ?

Is the community dominated by elitists that will prevent me from participated in raid content simply because I'm inexperienced and/or out of practice?

All MMO suffer if you cant get to know people, so would there be any friendly and active guilds with an open door policy?

Whats the estimated (or exact if you know) server population?

Thanks in advanced for any help. This sounds ideal, but I can't spend the time/money without knowing more about the community before hand. Since, thats what makes a great MMO.

No there are plenty of newbies, and alt's alike.

Yes there are elitist's but they arent in a majority rule situation (There are non elite guilds)

As for open door guilds yes ive seen a few , some of them are large too.

1) I wouldn't say it's topheavy at all. There are a few zones where you can find groups almost any time of day at the low levels.

2) That's a part of the beauty of this server--there are low level raid mobs, or adepts, which really bring a lot of lower levels together to do some raiding. You don't need to be a top notch raider or anything else. Yes, you'll run into some elitists, and some pretty obnoxious people in OOC from time to time (ooc is serverwide). Don't worry about it.

3) Yes, there are several guilds that accept all levels.

1. not top heavy, maybe a little middle heavy but I think thats due to the ease of exp gain. If you are a serious player, you can get to level 30 in a week.

2. The adepts really add alot to the game, they are mobs with an engage level. This means only people that level or below can attack the mob. Its like level protected raid mobs. There is an elite attitude to some people, but most high levels are pretty cool to talk too, and helpful with specific class questions. As far as raiding if you know how to assist, people are pretty cool.

3. you start out in a guild called Dalaya's Beginers. All newbies are in it, and its a great place to find low level groups and make some friends.

Thanks for the respones. It was enough, and I set it up last night. As usual Im an alt-addict for the first week or so, than I'll most likely settle on a pet class. It didnt take long to realize all the differences in SoD, but I'll let the game give the answers as I come across them. So again, thanks for the info and I hope to meet some cool people soon.

Looking forward to trying this out. Havent played in.. forever..

I hope the instructions are correct on the website because I read somewhere that EMU servers are broke after the 9/13 EQ patch. Anyways I'll try patching then run the SoD patcher.. Here's hopin.

Thanks =) Some of my best online adventures of all time were in the early days of EQ. Never saw the likes of those adventures again.

See you all ingame.

No that doesn't apply to SoD. I dunno why, but I was able to do a fresh install/patch to live for extra zones less than a month ago, and everything works fine.
