then my son levels a Vah shir to lvl 5 and then he got the error message.. we not supporting your class...
soo he created a new char.. but he still got a bit annoyed.. cant blame hime.
WTF... why didnt he got that message when he was lvl 1.. But Ok.. we not annoyed..
Then we go level.. and Leather armor seems to be VERY Uber cause i got 1 piece of it at lvl 20... LMAO
Then i had a group and some GM walked into it and needed to kill my group..
Err............................................ WTF .. what kind of server is this????
i dont think this is fun.. this is just retared..
if i cant get leather armor at lvl 20 and iam getting nice exp and some GM is walking in and is killing my group.. then i think your guys on the wrong track,, that is no fun,, that is just plain BS.
And yup/.. for your infor i called that GM a few names...
Now go ban me but this is just BS

Right.

I'm not going to delete this thread yet. You're far too funny.

For starters: Vah Shir have never been supported on WR. The character should have been kicked back to character select a few seconds after it logged in.

For second: Bahahahahahahahaha. Please. If you're going to come along and spew like this, at least bring some details. What's your name? What's your son's name? What GM was this? When? What zone?

By the way: Door's to your left.

mrs. funny the char was accepted till lvl 5 and you as Mrs. GM should know better . Sjitty Gm's should know better insteed of showing their power.. Duh. Your made a GM to help peoples, not to show peoples your power /smack

Well I'm trying to help here, but you aren't giving me much to go on.

From what I've collected you're a level 20 Beastlord with horrible equipment. Okaaaay.

And.. let's see.. Your son, who apparently was a female Vah Shir through some bug in the kick system, died in a GM event and started whining extensively.

That would be Mr. Funny, by the way. I am not a married woman.

And I'm not a GM to help people. I create content. Sorry! :sadf:

So. Because you can't spend a few gold to buy the (very cheap) leather armor at store or say, hunt for soft leather, because your son's Vah Shir somehow surpassed the system, because your son died in a GM event... wtf?

Are you expecting us to do what, exactly? This random whining is pretty damn pointless. Should we stop with GM events because occasionally they might be inconvenient for you? Should we have planar armor drop on unrest zombies?

I'm aware that zones have been crashing, boo fucking hoo, we're working to find the solution. Are you aware that you are playing on a free server ran by people to volunteer? Are you aware that we are not getting paid to fix these problems? WR is way more evolved than any other server, and we *work* to solve problems like these crashes, but -guess what-, occasionally it takes a few days.

Now shut up already.

Ancelique:

Remember the server is in BETA stage and that means you probably will find a bug every now and then.

Talkin about the vah shir issues...
Instead of making a thread like this, why not just report the bug on the forum? That would probably be the best thing to do instead of complaining, if ya want stuff fixed the GMs will work on it. Personally, I don't find it a valid reason to make a bitch thread because of your son's problem.

Anyways, zone crashing is a problem which will be solved when the new version of eqemulator comes out... or when they find the actual solution, which is deep into the source code.

The GM events are a cool part of this server. I have had lots of fun with those. And I never really felt that my group got killed during one, so maybe you were just unlucky.

Also, GM events often provide loot which you need or is even better than the average equipment standard for your level.

I'm not a GM and I enjoy this server and I know many others do. From what I have noticed in the leveling progress, some areas are better for exp and some are better for loot. Once you hit nurga you will find skulker equipment which will be a nice upgrade for you as a beastlord (if it's BL usable, don't remember but I think so). Nurga is for 30+ something though, so you still have some levling to do. Btw, nurga is also a nice exp zone *hint hint*.

A very cool exp And good equipment zone for like level 5 to 35 is unrest. It provides quest pieces needed for some decent equipment (I actually had it until level 50 or so). You turn those in at the othmirs in Cobalt Scar.

Although, I have no idea why I explain all this to you, because you have been very rude so far. But I myself was pissed on this server right when I started because of some bugs like zone crashing etc etc. So I kinda know how ya feel, but I never bitched about it in public ;)

my 2 copper

To sum it all up, childish spouts will get you absolutely nowhere on this server. Noone's gonna ban you for looking stupid, and noone's going to listen to your complaints either.

If you have valid suggestions, then present them as such. Think it's too hard to get equipment? Then post such.

That said, I would strongly recommend you and your friends pay The Hole a visit. It's a level 20+ zone here, and has a good amount of nice loot.

What happend

Ok, I feel that people should know what really happend:
He, the Beastlord, I, as both a ranger and druid, was killing stuff in Warrens (by kings room). We were doing fine, was FoM most of the time on druid, and king wasn't up (if he exists). So we do some killing and a pull somehow goes wrong, so we get two agroes, I spam heal ranger, while we get one of them killed. I then run out of mana on the druid so I and out of hp on the ranger, so ranger dies, last kobold still at full health. I root it and sit down to med. Now I'm completly oom on druid, and root breaks. It's not snared so it catches me, I try to run it around a bit, and he (the beastlord) can't seem to get it targeted, at least he didn't while I was still alive. I die. I'm guessing he's dead too. Next thing I know I'm standing beside my corpse (I got rezzed), and so did he. I thought cool. Afterwards he starts shouting that the GM's killed, I thought that he was just kidding, untill the GM appears him (her) self. And the rest is just meaningless yak ;)
Btw, you're not the only one he dished (dissed, if you prefer). I got to be called a retard as well. So excuse me for HEALING you and keeping you ALIVE!

Edit:
To sum up on the post. It wasn't the GM, she just dropped by just as we died, and rezzed us.

So it has now proven that there was no GM involved in the actual situation. Should just drop this thread really and live happily ever after ;)

Well, i don't know anything about that, but i would like to add a comment or two about the server sucking.

I've played on WR before, when it was owned by someone else, and although it didn't have nearly the amount of custom content that is in now, i found it much easier to play back then.

There's really two reason why new people get very discouraged playing on this server. First being something out of anyone's control, and that's the ability to get a group reliably. Once in a while you'll log on and a random character will be within your level range and be within running distance. For the most part many people are forced to level solo (unless they dual-box, which isn't fun IMO). Second, there is really a lack of quality content for lower levels. A SERIOUS lack of quality content. It certainly isn't for a lack of trying, but the vast majority of your population is 55+ so naturally the low level stuff doesn't get play tested. Many of the low level quests are impossible for people new to the server. There are not enough places to get experience for lower level characters (And i have been to almost every zone a low level can get to). Loot is seriously lacking, in fact the only thing i've ever gotten that any of my characters could use was some idol from a named kobold, and soft leather. At level 20, that just doesn't cut it.

I consider myself an experienced EQ player, and especially good at lower level characters. I never was "power leveled" or got "twinked" when i played on live, I found it more fun to get stuff on my own with whatever character i was playing. But i for one don't have fun on your server. It's frustrating and difficult to get any progress, and there is little to no motivation to get that next level or kill that mob, because i know that the loot will suck, the experience will suck, and i'll be almost dead and medding or out of bandages and stuck in the middle of a zone.

Like it or not, most people are forced to solo till they can get sufficient level to group with the regulars. And most classes, the way things are balanced now, have serious problems with it at low levels. I'm more than willing to discuss this more, i think that's the only way to find a solution

... uuh. This server has always been mine. It's never been owned by anyone else.

Couple more things... between 20 and 40, there are the following zones:

Marus Seru
Netherbian Lair
The Hole
Warrens
Wakening Lands
Eastern Wastelands
Great Divide
Cobalt Scar
Unrest
Mines of Nurga
Crystal Caverns

Of these zones, maybe two or three are used. A group that went to camp the orc fort in EW would get several nice upgrades, a group that killed ratmen in Hole would as well, a group that took an offtour to Crystal Caverns would find it worth their while.

But noone ever does, even when there's groups of 4+ people you sit in unrest. And sit in unrest. And sit in unrest s'more. I'm not going to waste my time adding content that isn't used because the low level population both want good loot and the most comfortable, unchallenging exp around. If you low levels ever took a group to those places, you'd find way more than soft leather and some idol, but you don't.

As far as the soloing issue goes: Out of bandages doesn't seem too likely, why do you think I added med kits?

AFAIK, most classes should be able to solo blues up to at least 50. I've done some testing in regards to this. Yes, some classes solo easier than others, that can't be helped.

What exactly are you suggesting here? Come with some suggestions instead of complaints.

Another question would be what kind of equipment you are expecting to have at level 20. Look at EQlive. How many pre-20 good loot pieces are there? Your view is warped because everyone on EQlive is a twink, bronze was the uber shit for even mid-30's people when people had to work for their own drops instead of picking up something nice in East Commonlands or Bazaar. What's the point of storebought armor if you expect to have it replaced within 1 or 2 days of playing?

Yes, these are all great zones for groups, with a group, you can get very good exp in most places... but if you'd like, i can show you how ineffective someone around level 20 is with the equipment they earn till that point. I'd be lucky to solo a light blue, blue cons can be taken down, but it's draining, and requires lots of downtime for casters. And med kits? since rarely see gold loot from a mob, how could i afford to spend twice as much on bandages just so it takes up half the space in my inventory?

Anyways, you're taking my posts out of context, I'm not complaining, just offering you feedback... Many serverops would love to get this kind of feedback about their servers. Nothing gets fine tuned if you don't know something's wrong

Firstly, don't think you're doing Wiz a favour by complaining. Feedback belongs in the bugs section or the suggestions section, not in a "this server sucks lol" thread. He's not going to be appreciative if your opening line is

Well, i don't know anything about that, but i would like to add a comment or two about the server sucking.

Secondly, I played my shaman from level one to level sixty on this server, and I had no problem aquiring equipment or experience solo. I had to search around a few places until I found good spots, but I did find them. There are decent enough drops in Warrens, and there are quest drops in Unrest and most other newbies zones which yield good quest armour that lasted me up 'til 50 or so, as it did for most of the current level sixty players, who will not only testify to that, but will be damn well proud of it :p. For a level twenty caster, there's robes galore, including a very impressive robe from Eastern Wastes. For plate classes, there are some fairly decent breastplates that can be obtained from level sixteen plus. The Hole is a wonderful place for loot (especially casters), if you explore it fully, and even Lord Syktari (who isn't even level thirty) drops some very nice items. Netherbian mobs give very nice experience and are mostly single, managable pulls. These places exist, but you have to look for them. That's the beauty of this server, it lets you get that sense of exploration all over again.

Thirdly, you got two platinum from a item that can drop from a kobold. You cannot say that it's very hard to get money in light of that. Money on this server is not difficult to come by, and usually flows enough to allow you to buy more than a single medkit, which holds 400 bandages in one easy slot. I didn't have this when I was level eight. When I was level eight, we had to buy bandages in single stacks and they usually poofed on zoning. :p

The server has a lot of opportunities for low level players regarding experience and equipment, and there are a lot more to come. As Nazul mentioned, it's a beta. If you think the gameplay can be improved somehow, there's a whole forum devoted to it where you can make your request and get not only dev feedback, but player feedback aswell. Good ideas you have can be developed and will possibly implemented. There's a thread called "Making the game more interesting", if you have any ideas as to this, post them. If you find a bug, there's a bugboard set aside specifically for that eventuality, make use of it. Crippling bugs are dealt with quite quickly, and the minor bugs have a bigger chance of being corrected if they're all listed in the same place, not spread out in inappropriate topics or mentioned briefly in /ooc. If you're unable to find places to level up, the majority of the players online and in IRC are usually willing to make a few suggestions if you approach them politely, but there's also a post with zone level ranges, a post with zone connections, and a thread that you can use to find information about a certain item or quest that you're having touble with. I tend to camp these boards, as do quite a few people, so any questions you have will be answered within a couple of hours, maybe even minutes.

Downtime is always irritating. It was irritating on Live, and it was irritating here. Unfortunately there's not much that can be done about that without making people too powerful. EQLive players learn that very early on, and are still bitter about it at 65. If you feel it's too hard with that class, and you're not enjoying it at all, I would put it to you that you chose the wrong class to begin with.

As for the unavailability of groups, that's a problem for us all. A problem that will hopefully be resolved with the release of version 0.5.0, which will allow new players into the emu and, consequently, into Winter's Roar. Every class is able to solo, though. It's slow, it can be frustrating, but we've all had to do it at one time or another. If you're getting too frustrated with the lack of partners, why not convince a friend to make a cleric (a class which we're severly lacking in at the moment) or another class that would go well with yours and duo a few levels?

A lot of effort and planning has been put into this server, and you have to work to get to a level where you can see the fruit of this labour. A lot of mobs are still undefeated because the currently high-end population isn't nearly powerful enough to kill them. But they will be. You don't have to put in as much work as you do in Live, but you still have to put in work. It's not easy, but it's not impossible, and the rewards are worth it in the end.

On the whole, we're a failry tolerant community and we welcome mature people (even if they're legally immature) who want to have fun and are willing to contribute to the project via bug reports and viable ideas about server direction or content. Not eveything will be implemented, but everything will be considered. As such, there will always be people who "leech" by taking and never giving, these people tend to make the game a less enjoyable experience for other players, either by complaining incessantly, being unjustifiably recalcitrant , insisting on special treatment or just being plain abusive. Whether you're embraced as a friend, or disregarded as an annoyance is, as everything ultimately is, up to you. First impressions don't always count, but they help, and it's always easier to forgive the first time, than it is the second.

Welcome to Winter's Roar.

Feedback is good. But it's also pretty useless without details. What class are you? What kind of mobs are you trying to solo? What would you like to see done about the problems you have?
