Third Member for Trio

I have a friend interested in playing but he just want's to play one character. I will duo with either a pal/shm or pal/clr. Paladin will be twinked to all hell w/ Ikisith gear.

I was hoping you guys could give a few good suggestions on what he can play. Looking for a class that is fun to play solo, for when I'm not on, but will be useful as a trio member.

Currently thinking:
Necro
Bard (This class might bore him though, and I want him to have a lot of fun when soloing)

Any other ideas? Pro's Con's of compared to other choices?

Thanks to Dimmi and Thade in advanced for commenting on this and to any others that have any insight.

I know it's not the sexy choice, but I think they oughta roll a Wizard. I've had more fun playing my wiz than all of my other toons.

For long term power (and you should always try to think long term), go with a bard. With that and the tank/healer later on you are 1/2 of any good group, and are also ready to go for 6mans.

Im going to have to second the bard opinion. Also I dont know why you think he would get bored playing it! A bard has so many weapons in his arsenal when it comes to grouping and soloing. It makes for very interesting gameplay. You can mez and crowdcontrol, melee, dot, bardkite when solo... its far from boring. It's also the best character to complete that trio. Sure as a newcomer to raiding he might be told to just stand there in a corner and sing his songs so he wont die, but if you look at the grouping and solo game its a very interesting and fun class.

go paladin, cleric, bard. The bard can slow and crowdcontrol, cleric gives you best heals.

And with that group, you can handle almost any non-raid content. Also very easy to complete the group, since all you would need would be dps.

Might also consider a beastlord will add some buffs and nice dps as well a a pretty decent offtank when needed. Also if you play a cleric the bl can slow.

Or might consider wizard or necro for pure dps.

And I quote: Sorry guys, can't do [Random 6-man Encounter] we don't have [tank/healer/bard].
