I suppose this is more of a rant, than it is anything else. I wasn't sure where to put it, so it landed here.
Anyway, to begin off, I hate quests. Why do I hate quests, you ask? Well, they seem to always have you killing pointless things that are very below your level. For the Ytraz, I've been camping the miners in Thurgadin for Mithril Ore for the past weeks and have killed at least 20 spawns or more. That's about 200 dwarves and no Mithril Ore. I have about 50 stacks of regular ore, oh boy. I'm at the point where I actually believe that it doesn't drop anymore.
Another point for the Ytraz, the piece in Shrouded Isle on the one week spawn. Yeah, thanks.
Why do so many quests involve tedious camps that are pointless? If I was supposed to do the dwarves back when they gave experience, then so be it, but I'm fairly certain I'd be far out of the level range by the time I actually got the mithril ore. The camps were the sole reason I never did any quests on live, either. I want to see progression when I'm online, I don't want to sit on my ass for hours hitting "/cast 5" (Flamestrike) on my Druid wasting green mobs so I can finally get a weapon. I would much rather either a) buy said weapon or b) kill raids mobs for it. Ahh, but herein lies the problem. Ytraz is the best warrior weapon available, by far. It doesn't compare to any of the dropped weapons I've seen and as such, is almost necessary to complete. The best weapon (mainhandable) I've seen lately is the Magebane, at 12/17 with a 150 DD/mana sieve proc.
The Ruby Hilted Longsword. My brother (Ramblo) and I started camping it one day because the quest is short, right? Well, we gave up after an hour and bought the damn thing. I'd much rather spend my money on something than to camp green spawns endlessly. If I could pay 20k...30k even, for the Ytraz, I would do it. No questions asked.
As for my original post. Is the Mithril Ore actually dropping? I've talked to other Warriors and they said it wasn't a bottleneck and haven't had any problems with it. Actually, to be honest, I've only talked to Linken, who got it on the second miner and he said that he hasn't heard it to be a problem.
All right, I'm done, and I still hate quests.
