The Winter's Roar Problem (sic)

The major concern before Kunark shipped was that everyone would be level 60 in a week. Once level 60 they would have little to do, boredom would set in, and many would leave the game. The designers solved this by making the new levels take much, much longer to pass through than the old levels.

Kunark is frequently pointed to and described as a major mistake. People say that it takes too long to level to 60, and that level 60 is "required" to play the game. Levelling they say is boring, and they want to be done with it, and be 60, so they can "play the game". In a nutshell, this is the Kunark Problem.

And would you like to draw some similarities between this and Winter's Roar, or just paste a article related to something quite different?

No similarities needed, its identical, just replace Kunark with WR...

High level count, low content count, even lower than EQlive kunark era.

Uhm. You're forgetting the fact that WR has way more and tougher high end content than Kunark, AAs to continue after 60, less reliance on levels for things like pulling, and so on. Essentially, what you posted is full of differences from WR, and whatever point you might have wanted to make is utterly nullified unless you create a logical reasoning to why these problems are duped on WR and what should be done about it.

I'm kind of lost too, what a surprise right?

Post 50 content,
Sirens
Dragon Necropolis
Tower of Frozon Shadow
The Hole (Yeah, so it's depopped now, better that than frequent server crashes)
Erudin / Thurgadin
Western Wastes
Kael
Sebilis
ToV
Tower of Sol Ro

Granted the last 4 seem to be 1 solid group or raid level places, that still leaves 5 zones (excluding the cities) for the 50+ people.

Compared to Kunark
50+ Karnors, Sebilis, Howling Stones, Veeshan's Peak, and to a much lesser degree, Trak's Teeth, Skyfire, and possibly City of Mist.

I'm not sure if it's quite fair to make the association with a known beta project (WR) and a released project (Kunark). Though a person could say that Kunark should have been postponed.

Bah, lost my train of thought, guess it might make sense?

OK, my bad, this is a famous article, which I assumed more people had previous knowledge of.

It boils down to a little equation:

(Time needed to level) - (Time needed to burn content) = Work

You want to minimize the "Work" variable, so either make levelling faster, or make content less "burnable"... This could mean adding more 50-60 zones, and even more zones for AA grinding (because you'll already have burned zones on the 50-60 climb). Or it could mean re-doing levels / content in some zones dynamically. Or it could mean making the exp faster. Or altering some of the game dynamics - exp for tradeskills? exp for duels? meaningful exp for quests? Or (as thott suggested) making the exp in a particular dungeon only good for a very small level range, like 1. This wouldn't work on WR, cause you usually have like one or two people at any given level...

Right now, for the very steep requirements of 50-60, we have: half of SG, half of DN, half of the Hole, half of Seb, half of Kael, ToFS?, half of ... erm thats all i can think of. 3.5 zones worth, in total... And considering that all the geometry for these zones is well known to all (WR's special take on the Kunark problem - no new zones are really new), you have maybe 50 hours on those 3.5 zones before content burn.

In those 50 hours, you might get to 53rd level.

This doesn't even start counting AA-grind time... You might have some more options available to you in a full group of 60s - say ToT and a couple more places around town - but its going to get old real fast.

Uhm. The lowest mobs in seb are level 53. How the hell is "half" of it 50-60?

DN, most of SG, half of hole, all of ToFS, all of Seb, some of CC, all of WW is more like it, as far as exp zones go. And that's excluding the raid zones like ToT, Kael, ToV.

Get a bit more of a clue on the things you complain about.

Wait wait wait. Wiz, he has a point. I've seen the light.

Zones are too hard! I've spent five hours in Seb, and I haven't seen it all. This must be fixed!

Calista Flockhart holds more water than this comparison.
