The Weight of Plate Gear

Hi all:

I was hoping one of you might give me some insight on Plate Armor. As a Half Elf Paladin I can't even wear a full set of plate and carry my sword and shield, and a two hander around without being encumbered, or very near it. MY str is 100 FYI.

The magical armor I see linked for sale seems to be even heavier, and in many case not enough Str to compensate for the extra weight.

Does this get any better? It just seems like plate armor is a bit too heavy in general. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Gwain

You will end up maxing your Strength. And, there is always Ghostmetal armor for the weak of back. Strength augs would help you raise that stat. Good armor also weighs less in general. Right now you are wearing some of the more basic armor.

In short, yes it will get better. But it will suck for a while too.

This is the reason I sank my high elf paladin and rolled frog. I know that *eventually* it wouldnt have mattered but I found it crippling. I could fully equip myself and I couldnt carry any loot. I would suggest another race... or with the changes to the class, perhaps giving up on a paladin for now.

I just made a dwarf warrior (Mofate) and created a set of Mithril Plate armor for him. And yes, the weight exceeds his strength. With a strength pot and druid buff, I am able to avoid being encumbered. But I really did not think I would have this problem with a dwarf. I guess I should have put some points into Strength.

If this is a true problem for you, sell that plate and go with chain until better options come along. Personally, I'd just stick it out with plate until I got the cash to score some other gear.

Save up money and buy Dalium plate. It's very light, very cheap, and able to be double aug'd. It will last you a long time. Skip Ghostmetal...if you get to 30+ and look to upgrade Dalium, buy Warpmetal and some strength gear. Ghostmetal is not very good as an upgrade to Dalium. The improvements are minimal for how much more expensive it is.
