The Warrior

Hey.
As of recently ive had the urge to make a warrior, or any tanking type class really, warrior for some reason strikes me as more tempting though.

So i was just wondering...
On live (yes i know this isent live, but just for explaning bear with me..) a while ago the warriors of Norrath bitching finally caused the admins / mods whatever to implement combat discs to make their playing a little more fun. It made their stamina act almost like mana and allowed them a more varried playstyle with a bunch of new buttons to press during combat.

I know there are /s commands on here, but thats not really anything you touch during combat that much..

So basically my first question is there anything similar for warrios on here or are they stuck with taunt / kick as the only 2 buttons to mash?

Secondly i was curious of DPS. Warriors main purpose is not DPS, im aware of this, but how do they rank up when compared? Do they beat SK / Paladin / Ranger (mellee) dps, or are they farbehind and are solely good at keeping agro?

Which brings me to my fourth question.. How good are they at keeping agro? Paladins rule at AE agro, SK's kick ass on single taunts.. where do warrios fit in?

5th and final question, why should a group choose a warrior over anything else as a tank? Would they?

Thanks :)
P.S. im not looking for any responses which proclaim any class better than another, i want decent compariosns by people whom know what they talking about :)

Warriors have one of the lowest total DPS outputs in the game. You do use stances during combat, and warriors use stances and AA to make them the absolute best tanks in the game. With foelock and the new(ish) warrior aggro generation, you really should not have trouble keeping aggro on 1 or 2 mobs. Beyond that might get a bit tricky. Warriors have the most hitpoints (base) by a large margin (~500 at max, 305 sta...in comparison to the knights).

However, basically you only roll a warrior if you will be raiding and need a main tank. Guilds never really need more than 1 warrior (though some will argue that shield is really good, I think the raid slot could be better spent). For exp. groups (in general) paladins or shadowknights will be "better" as they have more versatility and can "mash more buttons". If you want to be a good puller and a great tank, choose a shadowknight. If you want support heals and buffs, choose the paladin (also great AE aggro). If you want THE best tank in the game (tank means damage mitigation, damage avoidance) choose the warrior.

Honestly, the stances on this game is what makes them amazing. Their stances later on make them MUCH better at knights at taking damage.

A warriors dps is not much lower (if at all) then a paladins or shadowknights dps if they both are tanking. This cause the warrior doesnt need to cast to keep agro.

Thanks for the responses, helped me make my choice towards an SK.
Not really in any guilds and i doubt ill be in any that will need any warrior services from me..

So now just one (or two) question remains. :)

I like both the Darkelf race and the Iksar race.
On the wiki i see that the iksar gets an AC bonus. How significant is this bonus? Is it significant enough that the ikky race should be chosen? Anyone have any numbers on it (1%, 2% ...)?

Last question, as an iksar (or DE) SK should i dump all my points into cha?

Honestly, for the very minimal penalty of -2.5% to experience, you get an AC and regen bonus. I am not sure how much it is for each, as I have never played an iksar on here, and have not cared to calculate it, but I know it is at least 20ac or more, and the regen is not a huge factor, but it all adds up. Dark elves look cool as hell, but their racial abilities are lackluster. If you are going for the "power gaming" stand point, choose the iksar. If you like dark elves and think they look cool, and want to be able to always see well (ultravision), then go with them.

I am glad you mentioned charisma. Really, depending on how high you go in this game, stats become meaningless unless you can get them as high as 485, and can click shaman buffs (in the raid game, you will always have shaman buffs, giving 80 to all physical stats, making 405 to unbuffed stats a good target). Otherwise, it might be more beneficial to raise a stat that you cannot max easily with or without buffs. Shadowknights get several unresistable spells, and their lifetaps have good resist adjusts on them, but charisma is always helpful.

If you think you will get into the mid-high end, then go with charisma (maybe even intelligence for some added mana). If you don't think you will raid at all, at any point, then probably go with agility, as this is usually harder to raise, and is a superb tank stat. Both strength and stamina are easier to raise for tanks, as these stats come on almost every item.

Stats don't (hard cap) max out until 485, but anything over 305 you only get 1/3 the benefit (with AA), so anything over 305 isn't pointless until you go over 485, but, getting 1:1 charisma might be the best choice.

Having said all of that, I would get a shadowknight's opinion on the matter, as those who have played through the tiers may be able to help you focus on one stat or another depending on how far you want to go through the content.

(This opinion is coming from a bard who values charisma more than most hybrids, and also has gotten to the point where his physical stats cannot get much higher)

If you can be an Iksar then the choose in race has already been made for you. At 100 AA's yeah you'll be 3-5 behind another player, but 3-5 AA's aren't going to change a thing. The AC bonus will help you quite a bit though! The previous poster answered your CHA question pretty well. Either way I'd max your CHA with your starting stats.
