the username and/or password were invalid

that is the message i keep getting when trying to log into any account, i've flicked through this forum to see if anyone else has had this problem or if it was just something i was doing wrong, but it seems several other ppl have had this problem but there was no solution to it, does anyone know how to fix this?

just to add, the accounts both work fine on my friends computer, just not mine, which means it must be something to do with me, every topic i've seen on this says "i have a problem with logging in" and they post again saying "it's fixed now, disregard this post", yet they don't mention how it got fixed, unless it is just a temporary thing?
