The SoD economy

Neither of these issues significantly effects the ability to play SoD. Which I use as the measurement of the economies health.

They do however have a major impact on the players DESIRE to play SoD. It doesn't matter if you are a fringe player in the economy (sell trash drops to buy food/water) or a major wheeler-dealer (huge into tradeskills), everyone is affected by the health of the economy in some way.

If coin is too easily made then prices are artificially inflated and newbs have a very difficult time affording items. If coin is too scarce then items devalue quickly which benefits the newbs but seriously discourages the higher levels.

As players become more and more powerful their ability to farm coin should increase, this has not been true on SoD. Many of the coin-generating zones have been substantially nerfed in the past. This reduction in the higher levels ability to generate coin, combined with the slow declining of the population base (which makes the server even more top heavy) and the static prices of the main plat sink (charms) has led to a fair degree of disgruntlement in the higher levels and has caused item prices to plummet making cash generation even more difficult. The effort required to acquire a decent charm is now much higher than it used to be despite players being substantially more powerful compared to their predecessors.

Both are different problems on either end of the spectrum. Low level players want the bar dropped to make life easier for them. While high lvl players want the cost of items to raise to make more money from them. In case you mised my first and main point. Neither of these issues significantly effects the ability to play SoD. Which I use as the measurement of the economies health.

Bringing up item costs is will make the lower level players unhappy. And adding high plat returns and moderating tradeskill drops will just add inflation. Though this would artificially bring up prices the value of the plat would diminish.

As to Vlos having a Robe of Flowing water. Yes he does have one and it took me over three months of trying to get my hands on the components (and quite a few party wipes) before I finally opted to buy it. However when I first was looking for the cloak it wasn't as mass spammed in the auction world as it is now. I don't see how this effects my argument. Since I already own one it's not like I have any interest in getting a second.

Just because players gripe doesn't mean the economy is defunct.

obviously not a cakewalk to get the components then? and you cant make it yourself im assuming.. i still dont think the robe at 2k is proper pricing but thats what it is at eitherway...
i think garluk summed up most of what i wanted to say. no sense in repeating.
