The 7 worst nerfs Slaariel did in the last year.

  • Citadel 2: Claw Commander - Claw Commander Era´Velu was an easy-to-get-to 6man mob that required keying of sorts. It led to countless claim disputs. Slaariels solution was to move CC to dreadlands. But a move alone was not enough, he also added in a good bunch more of trash. No surprise, this trash is even more annoying and even less rewarding then any postnerv citadel mob.
  • Citadel: The Nerf - Once upon a time, Citadel of the Claw was the best xp zone out there, every mob had a trick under his belt, some of them even needing strats of sorts. But the rewards were in line with the difficulty, decent xp per time and the chance to drop tomes. Then one day Slaariel decided that this isn't acceptable and nerfed both tome droprate and xp per time HARD.
  • The Watchers - You know those eyeballs in Outer Prison, near Taeshlin? You know what happenes when you aggro one? Correct, a Watcher spawns. These things are meant to punish whomever spawns them on tier by killing him, and they allways did that well. One day though some high end people figured that they only had about 40k hp, and were decent xp. Slaariel did not like that. Not one bit. So he decided to ACT. Acting wasvthe right thing to do there, don't get me wrong. But there were 2 options available: boost the mobs hp, or make it so they don't give xp. Slaariel boosted their hp. The problem with this is: the exact same eyeballs (and the exact same watchers) are used in the Custodian fight. Bfeore this nerf, if one person aggroed an eyeball (quite possible due to lag!), the raid got a watcher that could be killed, punishing the raid but not wiping it. Now those watchers have more hp then custodian, so 1 watcher is a guaranteed wipe. Slaariel was made aware of this problem but decided to ignore the fallout of his knee-jerk reaction.
  • The Overgrowth: Nerfbat harder - When Overgrowth got released, things there were amazing xp and ridiculous pp. The reduction of vendor prices of drops off the easy plants was entirely needed, that shit was ridiculous. Nerfing xp on the unrootable unsnareable mushrooms so hard that a caster is better off rootkilling in Eldenals Mansion is an entirely different thing though. We all know that tank/healer or melee/healer duos are far superior to any duo that includes a caster. And when we finally had ONE SINGLE ZONE where a caster could solo and get xp compareable to the xp a melee/healer duo can get in about every zone out there, Slaariel appears and takes that away. And don't even get me started on the giant things in the northern cave - harder then Citadel ever was, and got struck harder with the nerfbat then Citadel was ever struck.
  • The September Itemnerfs - Crystalis, Cella, 4.3 Robe and more. They all were nerfed badly last year. The problem is, most of fights balanced around people having them remained untouched. So you have people doing less additional healing and running slower out of danger zones, thus requireing more heals being cast and loosing more DPS to running, while increasing the risk of needing even more heals due to being less likely to escape from the danger zones. Again, awesome work Slaariel!
  • The Mountains Fury or How To Make Highend Players Go Away - There are levels. Then there are AAs. Then there are tomes. After tomes, there is nothing else to do with XP any more. Until a few days ago, there was atleast one thing to do: The Mountains Fury. This item is obtained by killing Rohk, The Traitorus Hand - a 6man mob deep down in Firstruins - and then farming his trash for 10 extremely rare pages. Extremely rare in this case means you can go 30h of uninterrupted farming without seeing a single page. Once you had the item, you looked at 2850000000 xp to max it out, with diminishing returns per xp spent. It had the potential to become THE best ranged item in the game, if one was willing to do the xp/time investment. Nowadays it is worse then far easier to get ranged items, even on maximum level (Stone of Bilous Hatred for tanks/melees or Incense of the Enlightened Orc for casters). So on top of making a hard-to-get item so much worse then far easier to get items, you also removed an incentive for high ends who ran out of tomes to play at all. Awesome job Slaariel!
  • The Bag Of All Evil - Weight reduction bags. They were nerfed some time ago to be heavyer themselfs and reduce weight less. I'm entirely at a loss why, because with the weight limit gone for monks, item weight isn't an issue for anyone anytime anywhen anyways.

Dear Woldaff,

please give Slaariel the boot and find a new Dev-Admin. He is slowly killing the server.

reserving this space for later use

I will read any article on the internet that is put in the form of a numbered list.

  • yes this easy to get to mob had people camping in front of it so as soon as it spawned they would rush and could cause tons of disputes. Now there are absolutely 0 disputes no more claims of staff favoritism (on this mob) , general douchebaggery (the trains that happend before).

I also dont see you complaining about how emberflow has mobs to clear to. I do agree that the mobs up to claw commander (DL) should have a chance at dropping tome 2s .

[*]Citadel: The Nerf - Once upon a time, Citadel of the Claw was the best xp zone out there, every mob had a trick under his belt, some of them even needing strats of sorts. But the rewards were in line with the difficulty, decent xp per time and the chance to drop tomes. Whoever changed this zone brought it in line with the rest of shards of dalaya. no one zone should be the end all zone for exp and for loots. If you want to farm loots go farm loots. If you want exp go to an exp shitty loots zone.

[*]The Watchers - You know those eyeballs in Outer Prison, near Taeshlin? You know what happenes when you aggro one? Correct, a Watcher spawns. I have no idea as I am a bitch baby and do not do those fights. But yeah this sounds like a pain in the ass.

So you want a person boxing ONE character to get better exp than 2? Doesnt sound right.

Unless you are in FWF you have no right to bitch. Every mob that was killable before has been killed since FWF reformed i believe. with the exception of the shit they havent tried yet. You should wait for them to try and if they fail then you can make a point. If you are not in FWF then you are just a bitch baby crying because you have to heal more.

[*]The Mountains Fury or How To Make Highend Players Go Away - There are levels. Then there are AAs. Then there are tomes. After tomes, there is nothing else to do with XP any more. Slaariel has forced the player base to weight the different benefits of each different item. How dare you not make an item everyone can use and never have to replace!!!! I do agree with you that there should be an item high end people can exp but that doesnt go extreme in stats (they are the only onesthat really need something to do after they are finished with tomes). plus it keeps them here longer.

Really?! Complaining about fucking bags? I just think you put there here so your list could be larger.

boom quoted correctly so kedrin doesnt cry

Dear Woldaff,

please give Slaariel a high five and find him a gold star for doing his job. He is balancing the server content.

.

Edit: However, I'll say that I can't speak to the custo stuff and the watchers. But from what I read on the forums/following the gear nerfs those were due.

The bag thing I put there not so much to complain, but more to show how ridiculous slaariel nerfs are more often then not.

We killed Custodian on Monday night on our first attempt. Not a single person spawned a watcher but if what you are saying is true it sounds pretty awful in the instances where there are server issues. Otherwise, if you spawn a watcher, you are either a) really bad or b) have lag issues. Either way, you won't make it much longer as encounters only become less forgiving the higher you go.

Having said that, removing XP from them would have been a much more logical solution.

Wow this list is garbage.

First of all, all these things slaariel has changed have actually been unbalanced problems that I created. And although he has changed most of them (and maybe went a little too far on citadel) they were still things I should have fixed since they were mine. Also I had a hand in some of the OG rebalance so you can be mad at me for that as well =]

The watchers on the Custodian wiping your raid? Stop running into the eyes, it is part of the strat of the fight and honestly I am glad they have so much hp that it is pretty much a wipe if you spawn one now. It was always supposed to be which is why I never went back and reduced their hp (and I could if had wanted to).

I think in light of this balance change that perditrix should be looked at and made into a viable weapon in some way.

I would like to formally send in a forum petition.

It is obvious that Marza's account has been hacked as this person is agreeing with a change Slaariel did.

slaariel and marza both say pretty nice things about each other when the other one isn't around.

I changed the tome to be less bad at the beginning but not scale nearly up to be as good + a clicky that is sort of lore relevant.

If you somehow manage to finish it, it would be almost as good as Blazewind range hp/mana wise and a touch better AC wise. Honestly though, looking at what it is now and how easy that one is to fill it won't end up being much better than it is right now at its maxed state (just a touch. But it was my intention to make it seem like something very hard to complete, and I intend to keep it that way.

Pro tip to anyone wanting to be a dev, don't make an item like this because its a pita to keep balanced and make it worth getting.

Also don't do a lot of other things I have done, although do some of them, cause some of them were good.
