Tank Shoulder Slot Progression (T6-T10)

Obscenitor

Dalayan Elder
I was talking to a friend that happens to be a tank in a lowish Tier 9 guild about gear optimization and something was brought to my attention: there are very few options out there for tank shoulder slot. I have broken it down by tank class below. I don't claim that this is an exhaustive list but it is everything that is known and on the wiki (obvious non tank items that happen to be ALL/ALL left out):

Paladins
Tier 6 - Pauldrons of Continuity (CoD - Arch Mage Kextal)
Tier 6 - Resilient Silicon Honeycomb (Rust - Silver)
Tier 7 - Flame Runed Pauldrons (ToT - Archfiend Ghanherizoc)
Tier 7 - Steady Stone Mantle (PoF - Twins Raigol & Raizol)
----HUGE GAP?----
Tier 10 - Pauldrons of the Four (Thazeran the Great Guardian Final Event)

Shadowknights
Tier 6 - Pauldrons of Continuity (CoD - Arch Mage Kextal)
Tier 6 - Resilient Silicon Honeycomb (Rust - Silver)
Tier 7 - Flame Runed Pauldrons (ToT - Archfiend Ghanherizoc)
Tier 7 - Steady Stone Mantle (PoF - Twins Raigol & Raizol)
Tier 7 - Salus' Reckless Pauldrons (Extremely Difficult Treasure Maps)
----HUGE GAP?----
Tier 10 - Pauldrons of the Four (Thazeran the Great Guardian Final Event)

Warriors
Tier 6 - Pauldrons of Continuity (CoD - Arch Mage Kextal)
Tier 6 - Resilient Silicon Honeycomb (Rust - Silver)
Tier 7 - Steady Stone Mantle (PoF - Twins Raigol & Raizol)
Tier 7 - Salus' Reckless Pauldrons (Extremely Difficult Treasure Maps)
----HUGE GAP?----
Tier 10 - Pauldrons of the Four (Thazeran the Great Guardian Final Event)

Please keep me honest on this list, I tried to make sure I captured everything from the currently known loot tables but I may have missed something or there may be yet undiscovered tank shoulders. It seems as if the 2 tank shoulder options out of Thaz that are no longer obtainable left a pretty large hole in this particular slot.

Having been a dude who used salus reckless pauldrons all the way to sanctum shoulders i agree with this post

of course, the removal of thaz created a lot of other slot problems, tank shoulders is just one of them

What would be cool also while we're on this is more shoulder procs on tank shoulders so slam can be more of a thing.

i made these for a dev one day im not sure if they ever reached the light of day

Downside to slam procs would be if using ToLL illusion you can't slam.

Can it be fixed that if you are a large race to start you can slam in fire elemental illusion?

it can be fixed by gender illusioning the fire ele form off, Slam is purely client based

i'm not huge on the whole slam thing because it would put non-large races at a significant disadvantage. It would be best to allow all warriors to slam, but I don't think that is possible. One potential solution I can think of would be to use the Beg hotkey, that'd allow everyone to slam, but since only tanks get Bash skill it might work. It's potentially an interesting way to itemize and play a tank

Although not nearly as exciting as turning beg into something else I support turning beg into slam for everybody because "slam" is a cool word and shoulder procs sound good to me.

i like that slam is limited to large races. in a game with so many choices for class/race i dont feel that everyone should end up the same at the end.

Yeah and if anybody is feeling left out let them illusion barbarian and slam away.

except non-large races have no advantage (except maybe halflings) so all it does is promote warriors to being only 3 races.

are you absolutely sure that's what you think?
Well I mean I looked at some numbers and I rolled the term "no advantage" around and while they may not all be equal yes I think it is fair to say they all have an advantage.

Also slam proc stuff could be itemized with the restrictions in mind. Just nice little bonus procs for races with slam. Would that be the end of the world.
